I wish this was the scenario for the CFP:
7-team playoff, with #1 seed getting a bye.
All Power 5 champs get automatic bid + two “at large” bids.
Games could still be part of the “New Years Six”, just started a week earlier for the quarterfinals for the first three Bowls.
You could even add an 8th team if you don’t want the bye, and make that team a mid-major champion bid, just to give the “smaller conference” a shot if they’ve proved it over the season.
