The only instances I can think of is Mike Shanahan had full control his last years with Denver = mixed results

I think Mike Holgrem had full control when he was with Seattle...they got to a Super Bowl

Those are the only instances I can think of when one guy had full control and had some type of success

It’s time to check another box.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson will return to the team in 2021, according to multiple reports.


Why wouldn’t he? Crazed Eagles fans and over-the-top bitter Philly media notwithstanding, Pederson won a Super Bowl trophy in 2017 and took the team to the playoffs in 2018 and 2019. Yes, 2020 went sideways for the team. Surely, that’s not enough to run off a head coach who has shown he knows how to win.


According to ESPN, Pederson is due to meet with owner Jeffrey Lurie on Tuesday to discuss plans for the 2021 season.


The plans will include, at a minimum, hiring a new defensive coordinator. Jim Schwartz reportedly won’t return.


And regardless of whether Lurie says it, the mandate for next year will be to return to the postseason. Lurie fired both Andy Reid and Chip Kelly after two straight non-playoff years.

Carrol has all the power

Those teams may have GMs but they run it through the coach first

If a team that has a GM that means the coach does not have FULL control

They can be over ruled and the Patriots personnel moves have been extra shitty the past few years.....Brady covered up alot of those failures...

If they had any other QB that team wins 10 games this year.

They still won a ton despite having probably the worse QB in the league


just because your a gm don’t mean shit.

Saints GM is a money dude. He makes the money work.

SP and Ireland makes the decisions in players.

I can go on with some other teams but like I said GM title means nothing so some teams.

Patriots have a D-coordinator but he ain’t doing shit

Giving a coach full control and have him go on a power trip almost never works out in the long run. Which why I think the Jags should hand over the reins to Meyer if he comes
