“buying the block”

Shit, I gotta get my shit tight first. My money funnier than Eddie Murphy Raw.

Real shit tho, enough ppl come on board, the individual load is lessened.

Whenever you ready, me, you and @DOS_patos need to get something crackin.

That whole 7 mile/Woodward section is a diamond in the rough. Straight shot to downtown and right down the street from Royal Oak

Lemme see what's up. SBA playing games with me on this cv19 relief money. I applied back in April, still haven't seen so much as my $1k advance money and they just slapped me with MORE docs they wanna see. Old friend of mine applied, got the advance for all her employees, then got offered $40k for her business all within 2 weeks. Here I am months later and they still ain't gave me the advance.

And capitalism is not the issue corruption is. I don't need anybody telling me how much money I can make and what I can do with my wealth and resources. It's give and take, if you want socialism or communism you want you gonna have to sacrifice much of your freedoms.
Not disagreeing with u here as im pro capitalism anti communism but @ the bold can't one make the same argument against socialism?

It always looks good on paper but never works bc of corruption

Money, image and status breeds corruption.

Nothing is immune.

So we can stop bringing up corruption.

I'm just trying to weigh capitalism vs socialism

Both lead to corruption what makes one better than the other if "done the right way"

Tho I think capitalism can lead to financial freedom I still feel like there need to be a bit of balance between the two.

My problem isn't so much with the being anti-gentrification as it is with a lot of the people who are anti-gentrification not having any better ideas. Gentrification is a thing in the DMV area, and I've literally heard people here say they should just keep places run down rather than building them up and gentrifying. To me that's stupid. I get wanting to keep white people and wealthy black people from running poorer black people out of their homes, but making that prevention by having the poor black people continue to live in squalor is stupid.

The only thing I can see doing is getting some charitable investors and maybe some government grants to flip homes and then sell at reasonable prices. The problem there is that making the houses look nice doesn't fix the problems in the hood.

Socialism calls for more gov intervention which pulls even more bs into the mix.

Ultimately to keep it real there's no way around bullshit dealing with humans but you have to choose your degrees right? ?‍♂️?‍♂️

Came across this video a few minutes ago.

Gives a whole different perspective on "gentrification."

Basically, there's more to it than buying up properties and raising prices.

Some of these homes were burned down and/or condemned by the city to drive black people out and pave the way for developers to buy them on the cheap.

whats buying the block to you?
somebody (usually a member of the local ethnic group and not an outsider e.g: usually whites or jews) buying houses (in suburban areas, buildings in cities) or starting businesses on a block/street/etc. example: A Haitian buying/owning an apartment building in a mostly Hatian/Black area.
