Just finished reading this today for the first time after buying it after three years...
Hell of a thriller... Yeah there's a movie to be made out of this no doubt
However, there's two factors I think that will make of break the success of this movie
1. Mann's age: man's in his 80's and I don't know if he'll have the physical energy to encompass this story into film, multiple locations and big shootouts a car chases spread around three distinctive years 1988, 1996 and 2000...
Also Mann hasn't made a proper hit movie since
Collateral over 20 years ago...
He wrote the book so I'm hoping he'll do his best to produce a hit movie
2. Casting of actors: obviously DeNiro and Pacino are too old so there has to be a new cast of all the characters since the first movie was released 30 years ago...
The character played by Val Kilmer is the main protagonist in this book... Someone has to capture that cold weirdo aesthetic of 'Chris' in his youth and older (It was reported that DiCaprio wants the role and has reached out to Mann)
My take for casting would be
Vince Hanna - Colin Farrell
Neil McCauley - Oscar Isaac
'The Boss' - Vince Vaughn
Great crime thriller
4/5
P.S:
If you have ideas on casting you can share them as well
