Official Wrestling News Thread

Yeeeaahhh...no bruh. Lol!

Of WWE will always be on the top of the totem pole. But AEW is mos def the #2 top major promotion.

Let's stop acting like AEW is just some rinky dink small time wrestling promotion. Folks need to start giving credit to how big of an impact they've made in just what...5 or 6 years??
AEW is definitely a major promotion, but when I watch the show it feels more like a promotion inspired by indie and puro than a promotion trying to be a unique alternative to WWE. AEW doesn't have a signature anything; its not known for anything that wasn't already featured elsewhere before.

I'm really not trying to slight it, i just recognize a lot of indie elements that I don't think translate into good long term booking.

There's nothing to jump ship to. AEW is closer to RoH/PWG than it is to TNA, wCw, or WWE. That's not a bad thing if you always wanted indie wrestling to be mainstream.

It’s not about jumping ship.

I watch wwe still and attend live events from time to time. I like wrestling.

And as a fan of wrestling I also see the writing on the wall for WWE’s current product. They trying to get their money. I dig it. What’s left of the wrestling that they choose to show within 6 hours of weekly programming suffers because of the business decisions being made. Decisions made regardless of having the resources, experience/minds and systems in place that one would think would give its fans a better product but they have no incentive to change because the numbers reflect success.

And as a fan of wrestling, that’s not gonna work for me, brother.

Doesn’t that in itself make it a unique alternative to WWE?

good long term booking is happening as we speak. Darby Allin is evidence of that. They’ve been calling back indy shit from him and MJF’s
feud since 2018 that culminated in a world championship win in 2026. If that’s not good long term booking, please show me what is.

yea this is it, Its really not even their fault but nothing that they do has managed to pull me in and make me wanna be a weekly viewer or made me wanna completely stop watching WWE in favor of them. The last promotion to do that was TNA when it FIRST started and thats because it was new and innovative and they were doing shit id never seen before. Nowadays its hard to stand out like that because everything has been done so i dont get that feeling anymore.

Also this right here..

I don't give a fuck about no Darby Allin bro.. I know ya'll like him but this nigga like 110 lbs. & idk if you remember but everytime this conversation gets brought up about why niggas dont prefer AEW I always say im not a fan of the way TK books his powerhouses/ big guys and how he'll use them to put over the lil mfs.... and every single time I bring up a big guy who he could of belted up im met with "Hes injury prone" or "Hes not ready" well i got a question for you bro. What the fuck happened with Brody King? Was he not ready either?

My brother, what makes you think I care about Darby Allin?

I’ve been saying that Swerve is my guy.

Sidenote, you talking like Samoa Joe didn’t hold the belt for the latter part of 2025. Im not saying you’re wrong about powerhouses being champs. That’s cool. And that’s what Vince championed for a while and i think there’s room for that plus smaller champions. I thought wrestling was about story telling? David vs Goliath ain’t going nowhere. Everybody loves an underdog story and that’s what Darby represents.

It is but i dont like Darby Allin

also it just dont make no sense to me. He cooled off another white hot powerhouse AGAIN and nobody can use the excuse of him being injury prone or not ready cus i was seeing niggas all up and down my time line who just knew he was winning the strap, so whats the reason?

funny thing is i dont even like Brody King like that either I was just wanting to see if he was finally gonna pull the trigger. & of course Samoa Joe held the strap because hes Samoa Joe. Now do one of the other powerhouses

But thats what makes Darby intriguing. Especially wit fans. The ultimate underdog. This muthafucca would DIE if it meant he could took out his opp wit him. He's no different from Jeff Hardy. He's Jeff Hardy wit the volume turnt up ALL the way.

But fans act like you HAVE to choose one over the other. I'm a fan of pro wrestling. Good matches. Great storytelling. Long-term booking. Regardless of the promotion.

That's why all these anti-AEW fans are stupid imo. You wishing the downfall of a promotion for what? So we can go back how things were b4 AEW arrived??? Yeah how that worked out? I'll tell...

- half azzz storytelling
- sorry azzz creative ideas
- over-abundance of promos
- very lil matches
- WWE giving their whole azzz for the fans to knowing they can put out anything they want

And them anti-AEW fans will be the FIRST ones crying about it. I don't watch TNA like that. But I'm not stupid enough to want their downfall. If one fails...the whole industry suffers.

Brody will have wayyyy more chances to win the title.

His time is coming

If you ain’t seeing how it’s a chance for you as a wrestling fan to enjoy MORE wrestling, then you are missing out.

Fuck the tribalism.

Which leads me to my next question

What were you niggas doing during the Monday Night Wars? Yall wasn’t flipping the channel between WWF & WCW? Yall wasn’t watching ECW?

I was flipping back and forth until about 1999 when I would watch Raw live and tape Nitro

Flipping back and forth during commercial breaks or who was having the best segment.

ECW wasn't accessible to watch for me.

Flipping back and forth.

Or use one tv for WCW’s and tape WWE.

I am of the opinion that WCW was dog walking WWE for a decent period of time thanks to NWO, Goldberg and DDP.

WWE too corporate now tho. Shit feels like working at a Fortune 100 company.

Looking back WCW was kicking the hell outta WWE. The Benoit/Raven feud, the Benoit/Booker T best of seven. Dean Malenko was a wrestling machine. DDP vs Macho Man. WCW was just ahead.

It be one thing if WWE was a grave yard.... It's still an entertaining product. The TKO influence is apparent, but it's not so much of a distraction that I can't enjoy it and still be entertained.

If I didn't think it was entertaining anymore, I would stop watching. But it hasn't gotten to that point, and I don't think it will. There's still way too much talent for it to ever really go dry....and folks are still invested even if they're not at their best
