What you're seeing is people who hate Drake more than they like Kendrick. So they're going extra hard to try and prove how much they like him and his music by giving it this mythical status. The overcorrection isn't coming from Dot fans it's coming from drake haters

This is an element of it that is true. I also think that hip hop culture isn't winning in any of this because the culture isn't even being run by "Us"

Niggas are letting corporations draw lines in rap beef in the name of hip hop culture all because they hating on Drake. It would be hilarious as fuck if it wasn't so sad.

I said at the beginning of this beef that niggas are overlooking the music and only focusing on the moment. The whole idea of this "moment "is built on a weak foundation though.

Is the moment about taking hip hop back from culture vultures because how is Drake, the niggas who has been running the game for the last 15 years a culture culture now, all of a sudden?

Or is the moment about elevating blackness within hip hop but niggas have been glorifying the absolute worst shit about hip hop culture for years now why would a beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake have any bearing on that?

The whole issue with this moment and culture talk is that it cannot be explained because it's all bullshit.

This beef is rooted in jealousy which Kendrick admitted himself but niggas tried to twist Kendrick's literal words and make it into some fight for the hip hop culture when the only thing that has happened is, once again niggas have been bamboozled by the same entities that they accuse of stealing and capitalizing off of hip hop culture and made to look like fools again.

too dense and winding of a convo for me to fully engage with

but yea this "the culture " shit throw me off when all this shit is dictacted and curated by white capital

i enjoy alot of this shit too but we shouldn't be tryna "find" ourselves in shit we're moreso subjected to than controlling

According to Rick Ross, this was always about control. Drake positioned himself to have an impressive amount of control and influence over hip hop culture. Niggas were not only hating on him for that but the proceeded to try and tear him down like Drake though that he was too big to fail or something which I don't think was the case.

When the details about Drake's $400M deal got out and he alluded to being the "boss of these niggas" that's when you saw the real motivation behind this beef. They (including a bunch of artist that depended on Drake in some form or fashion) were hating on him for gaining the access and power that he quite frankly earned after more than a decade of dominance, and they tried to humble him.

@Los216 talk to these niggas bruh! 🫡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Don't want a Canadian half-breed to say the word nigga but get a drug addict Spanish dude to say he don't want his daughter to be with a black man

I think some niggas who hopped on did it out of jealousy. I think with Kendrick though he genuinely doesn't like Drake and what he represents which is this stuck in your late teens/early 20s mentality that's plagued rap. I've said it before we are just now getting to a point where folks actually want to hear and see rappers progress and grow older in their music. And Drake has been stuck at 25 for far too long. I think the most poignant lyric in this entire battle is "We see the "boy" but where is the man at". That sentiment has been bubbling in rap for a bit now and Drake became the face of it with his last few albums.

There's other factors as well like Drake immaturity pissing off his female fan base among other things but Drake did himself no favors the last couple years with how he was moving around

I don’t see nothing wrong with someone wanting their daughter to date within their race… I have a daughter and I prefer her to date, marry, and procreate with a man that looks like me… But at the end of the day I’m going to love my daughter regardless who she fuck with…

Or niggas just like trolling drake fans and seeing them crash out cause its funny

Not when you got nigga STILL writing paragraphs about this shit how many months later??? so......

I've seen an actual legit journalists somehow say Drake got what was coming to him due to his misogyny and also praise the Future albums as the 2 best of the year. Niggas is being hypocrites in real time over their hate of Aubrey. It's sad no matter which side you're on

Who is taking it back and who are they taking it back from?

It took a Kendrick vs. Drake beef for niggas to finally fight for the "culture"? The same culture that elevated Drake to the top for the last 15 years? Kanye? The way the culture has treated female rappers?

We watched the culture line up and attack Meg on a serious fucking issue and there wasn't a whole lot of fighting for the culture going on then and Tory Lanez is Canadian too, so where was all of the foreigner energy from niggas fighting for the culture then?

Also, this beef in particular was hijacked by corporate media way before this latest album. We now have corporate entities trying to capitalize on the energy posting MUSTARD captions like they aren't the very people that niggas are supposedly taking the culture back from.

I'm not being obtuse. I understand exactly what people are saying when they're talking about taking the culture back. I just want niggas to explain who has it and who are you taking it back from.

Also, who is the hip hop authority because it's very clear to me that hip hop culture lost it's identity a long fucking time ago, so to see niggas using this Kendrick vs. Drake beef as a moment to fight for the culture......looks corny.

Nobody is fighting for "the culture," we just don't like Drake and Kendrick is the one willing to stand up to him.

Black American originated art forms always been curated, funded and diluted by White Americans and Drake is a just the extreme version that in Hip Hop in artist form.

It's not about women in Hip Hop. It's not about Blackness. It's not about ownership.

It's about a heavily commercialized artform having a little bit of integrity and authenticity.

That first part just says everybody else was scared of him and too bitchmade to stand up to him on their own. For as soft as people keep saying Drake is it sure is taking alot to keep him down

Drake's misogyny always been coated in Nice Guy language.

Nobody likes nor respects the Nice Guy misogynist. It's actually more repulsive to people and there's been studies on this about liberal and leftist women.

They don't like the Nice Guy.

People respect the guy that says what he wants and does what he wants. That's what Future represents. He's the Bad Guy. He never pretended to be the sensitive lover boy type. And he also don't go into autobiographical diary entries about the women he dated and tried to manipulate them through music.

And Future makes better music than Drake. Nobody likes Drake besides Drake fans.

No they weren't scared of him. They needed him.

Drake is the benefactor that goes around handing out money and the spotlight.

There's no money in the music industry and especially not Hip Hop.

Kendrick is critically acclaimed and financially set. He don't need Drake. He's more beloved than Drake by the powers that be because he makes the type of Black art they like.

Drake doesn't.

I know niggas don't want to admit this, but the majority of what Kendrick has released since the beef started musically has been.........overhyped. There's a corny element happening within the "culture" too with people being extra talking about how good or legendary the music actually is.

It feels like a lot of niggas are experiencing an overcorrection right now. They don't like how hip hop has been white washed in the last decade or so and they're fighting a battle for the "culture" and Kendrick is their chosen fighter.

I'm going to be totally honest. Musically, I think a lot of people are fronting when it comes to Kendrick but they have to do that to fight for the "culture"

It's just getting corny. Even from how people in the "culture" are posting and commenting about it on social media, it has the vibe of people fighting to take something back from somebody who they think shouldn't own it.
Agreed. I've been saying it all year. We can tackle it from different areas because they all come together to make it this way.

Spot on with the redirection of rap take especially coming off of how bad last year was overall. Talk of labels moving away from rappers to the style of rappers that's been poppin over the past 5 yrs.

Who better to have lead the charge for the culture than the media think is the child of Lauryn Hill and Tupac as an artist? And who better to have him go against than the man who not only is perceived as his opposite but also easy to hate(and doesn't seem to play the media game like they want him too).

Alot of the disses aren't great. Arguably just cool records overall but the masses are caught up in the hype and want to he apart of the event. Outside of 1 or 2 from both artist put together but none of it is legendary or have legs to me.

The shit is some what manufactured, mostly corny and shallow overall. Why the people just decided Kendrick was the hero we needed to stand up to the evils of Drake is nothing more than a facade. People posting about it are just fishing for content and want to be down. It was never about who was the better rapper, the best bars, etc. It was about other bullshit that isn't even real to me. Corny niggas dictating what's cool in rap.

Beef is never about who is the better rapper or bars.

No different than politics being about policy.

Or war being about honor and courage.

Beef always been about narratives and the narratives about Drake always been against him and his fans always pointed to the numbers.

Kendrick said "Duck your numbers, I don't like you. I hate you. "

Lol. I think people are just now finding out that the world is ran by sentiments and narratives.

Kendrick's narrative about Drake was more compelling and what people already believed about him and that's why K.Dot won.

Same reason why Nas beat Jay Z, he didn't rap better than Jay Z. He told a narrative about Jay Z that people already believed.

Jay Z said " I make better albums than you and I got more money than you."

Nas said " You use money to overcompensate."

And the entire image of Jay Z died and his own mother made him apologize for Super Ugly because it was true.

And had a Spanish nigga saying nigga on stage for that "Not Like Us" concert event.

Called Drake a pedo but had Kodak on his album who has SA charges.

Called Drake a dead beat, bad father but teamed up with Future.

Told us Drake wasn't to be trusted but idolizes Ye despite all the things he's done.

The shit isn't real.
