WWE announced last week that Rhea Ripley was injured with a broken orbital bone. There is still no timetable for her return, but there was hope making the rounds among talents this week that the injury may not be as bad as initially feared. We are told Ripley was earmarked for a big role at Wrestlemania, so the company is crossing their fingers. Stay tuned if and when we can confirm more, but my gut is that if Ripley can return sooner than later, they will hide it for maximum dramatic effect on TV.
For those who have asked about the status of Michael Hayes and Bruce Prichard within WWE after reports made by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, we can confirm that as of today, both are still with the company. Hayes has been off in recent weeks to attend to a personal situation (said to be medical in nature), which is also preventing him from attending tomorrow's Big Event convention in Long Island, NY. We are told Bobby Roode has been getting raves internally for stepping up and handling a lot of the talents and matches Hayes would usually be involved in. We are told Hayes is expected back sooner than later.
In the case of Prichard, the word we have heard is he is also off the road. We are told that internally, there has been no change to his status with the company, but he isn't expected back until the end of the month, if not longer. In the case of Prichard, there's been rumors passed around, but nothing we've been able to source as correct and in many cases, the rumors have been outright denied to us. Since the Internet likes to assume things are correct when there's nothing to it (see: Fatu, Jacob outrage earlier this week), I highly advise caution when it comes to believing everything being thrown against the wall.
There are absolutely plans in place for Smackdown and Raw to both be three hours as of January with discussion of adding some talents from NXT to the roster at that point.
