Of course degenerates are gonna do degenerate shit. But when folks try to give logic and/or excuse their actions is where folks end up saying shit they don't realize sounds very much like "well...its kinda your fault." Sometimes just calling foul shit foul without a "but you did this too" is perfectly fine.
In my job, I have to analyze how we arrived at a problem day in and day out. I spend hours going through logs to find the source of a problem and all players involved in it. I'm good at my job, and the reason is that I've always been like this even growing up. What was in play before the problem occurred? What actions contributed to it from
all parties involved? And, more importantly, how do we move forward so this doesn't happen again? When you take an honest look at the factors leading up to an incident, "but you did this too" is ALWAYS going to be a part of it. And that shouldn't be an issue unless you're trying to absolve someone from their own culpability in what happened.
I wrote about me getting robbed at gunpoint in Detroit either here or on the IC. If I'm being 100% honest, the bulk of that was my own fault. I did shit nobody that lived in the hood would have ever done. I wasn't living in Detroit at the time and got comfortable with being in a much safer city and got caught slippin.
I took side streets in the hoody-hood to get to the freeway when I should have stuck to the main streets, especially when I was already on the main street to begin with.
It was around 2am, and I was driving through said hood bumpin' my music with the windows down.
I had ZERO situational awareness and didn't see the nigga before he got to my ride.
I had about $400 on me at the time instead of leaving the majority of it at the crib or in the bank.
I spent too much time sitting at the stop sign at the freeway flipping through my tape case trying to find music for the freeway, so I wasn't paying attention to anything.
Next thing I know, I got a gun at my head and a nigga talmbout "give it up".
Now, we can all acknowledge that the nigga with the gun a. ) shouldn't have had a gun in the first place since MI rarely ever issued CPL's in those days and open carry was not a thing and b.) shouldn't have robbed me because it's illegal. But we have to get away from this whole "victim blaming" mentality when the victim (in this case, me) absolutely played a hand in this situation and that's usually the case. Not always, but a significant amount.
We've already done the analysis of everything leading up to this incident. So, how do they move forward so it doesn't happen again?
1. Angel Reese cannot continue with the expectation that men that she looks up to will not see pics and videos of her where she's dressed in such a manner that she would be embarrassed or uncomfortable if she's made aware of them viewing it. Either you're ok with all men (and women) seeing you in the manner you presented or you're not.
2. Shaq needs to keep it professional and any discussion of a woman's looks or body, whether on display or not, needs to be kept to himself or needs to take place in a private setting with only the two of them present only if they have that kind of relationship. He doesn't have that relationship with her, so it needs not be said. He could have just used "dunking in booty shorts" without referencing her outfit at all in this convo. Truthfully, he needs not say anything unless they're dating or have been otherwise intimate. Clearly he overstepped a boundary and needs to apologize to her for it (publicly), but he needs to make himself aware that this ain't 1992 and shit that
might have flown back then doesn't now so act accordingly.
