Shaq Faces Backlash For "Inappropriate" Comments Towards Angel Reese

SO we taking 1950s fake modesty.as the bar now ..with out amy examination of why those fake puritanical protocols were in place as if it wasnt rooted in some insecurity and control....

There defintely is credence to how some women can present themselves and try to act brand new about attention but this aint it

Cant believe you went to the "sensibilities" of the 50s

Miniskirts in the 50's - 60's came down to just above the knee. Today they're just barely below the ass cheeks. There's a difference, don't be so fuckin' dense.
The mini skirt also was a part of the feminist revolution because it was seen as an expression of sexuality and freedom by women of the day just as gong bra-less was.

Also, you can't just stick the word "fake" in front of something and have it be true. Modesty was the order of the day in the 50's and 60's. The mini skirt was seen as rebellious against that modesty. There was once a point where it was 100% illegal for a man to be shirtless in public because it would invoke lustfulness in women... Same as what is said of chicks with miniskirts on and, likewise, chicks showing half their ass cheeks today. That kind of attitude was real back in those days despite your use of the word "fake" in front of it.

They were hangin niggas from trees in the 50s

And beating their wives for over cooking meatloaf fuck out my face

The last part. You say that like women don’t know the responses they might get. I think they all do. But the main issue with Angel Reese is she views Shaq a certain way. An uncle type figure is a different layer. I’m not dismissing your logic at all.

I agree with you all about Shaq.

From actually speaking with women it's not that they're not aware of the commentary that will come from some with wearing certain things. It's when it's used to demean and or boil down their entire being to that outfit. And also when the comments aren't just comments and lead to people thinking they now have and or are deserving of some access to their bodies.

I'm not on social media, so I don't know what these chicks are doing. If they are presenting themselves as complete human beings and people are boiling them down to a couple pics, then I'd agree that's foul. If their whole social media presence is them showing off their bodies, I'd maintain that they can't expect to be seen as more than that. I'm not saying they deserve the level of nasty disrespect they will certainly get on the internet. I'm just saying that I believe you can't seek to be seen as anything more than what you present.

The problem is that you have tons of females on social media who want to "just look sexy" putting out a certain image and you have other chicks who are legit trying to make money of their images on the same platforms. I imagine it becomes difficult to tell which is which. It's like that old Chris Rock or Dave Chapelle joke where he said "You may not be a hoe, but you're wearing the hoe uniform."

That last sentence has been bouncing around in my head to be used in this thread in some fashion.

If you're not on social media then you're not really going to get the full scope because its tied into that mainly. In this thread we're talking about a young woman who is a WNBA player. So its safe to assume her social media presence is more than just pictures of her in whatever outfits anyone wants to try and deem revealing and shes had literal AI porn made of her and sent to her family. Even if you expand beyond Angel Reese on social media, ask the average woman the types of dms they get even if they're not showing themselves off. Niggas is legit being nasty and doing shit like recording themselves jerking off for women's dms. Sending all sorts of wild shit and when the response is "well what could you have possibly done to illicit that response" it takes part of the blame off the person who did the act and places it onto the person on the receiving end.

The part of your post i bolded ask the average woman you know who is on social media what type of shit they get said to them. It has nothing to do with how these women present themselves because whether a woman is wearing a bikini or a full suit theres gonna be somebody who just can't help themselves and make it sexual because...woman. So maybe telling the people being creepy to stop being creeps is more effective than "Hey niggas gonna be creeps so just accept it. Or never post a public picture".

Even without being on social media I know there are problematic dudes out there. I disagree that you can just tell niggas not to be creeps. The dudes that respond to G rated content with XXX DMs are not reasonable people. You can tell them not to do that, but they don't give a shit. They will still do it. The social media platforms need better policing and people that get reported for doing that shit need to be banned from the platforms.

That said, I still think that's a different situation from what we're discussing. It's fine to say that a chick that's not showing ass shouldn't be hit with comments about her ass. I don't believe you can say that about chicks who are showing ass. It's not creep behavior to comment on something that was purposely put on display.

We all know the difference in a normal reaction of seeing something nice vs creepy shit. And too many times niggas reaction cross over into being creepy. Aint nobody telling niggas to put blinders on. But it also ain't too much to say to use some common sense and self control. I ain't saying that telling niggas not to be creeps will instantly solve the problem. But calling niggas out on creepy ass behavior does let them know it aint tolerated. Instead of the reaction being "well why was she wearing those shorts" maybe "damn nigga you ain't never seen ass before?" Start shaming niggas for being lame as fuck instead of giving them a pass

lol Dawg, I'm telling you from experience that shit does nothing. You know how many times I've said the bold to cats over the years? I can shame a nigga for being thirsty and creepy until I'm blue in the face. If he gets even one slightly positive response to his creep shit, that's like a green light to keep doing what he's doing.

It reminds me of conversations I had with women back in the day about niggas grabbing ass. The chicks would be like "Why don't you tell your friends to stop doing that?" I told them "I used to until I found it was a lost cause. Niggas ain't going to listen to me saying it's wrong if they getting numbers or taking chicks home after grabbing their asses."

That's a whole other discussion. At the end of the day, some niggas are just degenerates and words won't stop them from being that.

Exactly. Them dudes grab ass, because they’re ass grabbers. They are an absolute lost cause, and they cannot be reasoned with. They don’t have integrity. They’re not people you can speak to and say, yo bro why are you doing that? Stop! Those folks honestly, have to be put out of their misery. We just not in it era we can just easily do that.

It’s just shed to have convos like that with women cuz I mean reasons.

Of course degenerates are gonna do degenerate shit. But when folks try to give logic and/or excuse their actions is where folks end up saying shit they don't realize sounds very much like "well...its kinda your fault." Sometimes just calling foul shit foul without a "but you did this too" is perfectly fine.

In my job, I have to analyze how we arrived at a problem day in and day out. I spend hours going through logs to find the source of a problem and all players involved in it. I'm good at my job, and the reason is that I've always been like this even growing up. What was in play before the problem occurred? What actions contributed to it from all parties involved? And, more importantly, how do we move forward so this doesn't happen again? When you take an honest look at the factors leading up to an incident, "but you did this too" is ALWAYS going to be a part of it. And that shouldn't be an issue unless you're trying to absolve someone from their own culpability in what happened.

I wrote about me getting robbed at gunpoint in Detroit either here or on the IC. If I'm being 100% honest, the bulk of that was my own fault. I did shit nobody that lived in the hood would have ever done. I wasn't living in Detroit at the time and got comfortable with being in a much safer city and got caught slippin.

I took side streets in the hoody-hood to get to the freeway when I should have stuck to the main streets, especially when I was already on the main street to begin with.
It was around 2am, and I was driving through said hood bumpin' my music with the windows down.
I had ZERO situational awareness and didn't see the nigga before he got to my ride.
I had about $400 on me at the time instead of leaving the majority of it at the crib or in the bank.
I spent too much time sitting at the stop sign at the freeway flipping through my tape case trying to find music for the freeway, so I wasn't paying attention to anything.

Next thing I know, I got a gun at my head and a nigga talmbout "give it up".

Now, we can all acknowledge that the nigga with the gun a. ) shouldn't have had a gun in the first place since MI rarely ever issued CPL's in those days and open carry was not a thing and b.) shouldn't have robbed me because it's illegal. But we have to get away from this whole "victim blaming" mentality when the victim (in this case, me) absolutely played a hand in this situation and that's usually the case. Not always, but a significant amount.

We've already done the analysis of everything leading up to this incident. So, how do they move forward so it doesn't happen again?

1. Angel Reese cannot continue with the expectation that men that she looks up to will not see pics and videos of her where she's dressed in such a manner that she would be embarrassed or uncomfortable if she's made aware of them viewing it. Either you're ok with all men (and women) seeing you in the manner you presented or you're not.

2. Shaq needs to keep it professional and any discussion of a woman's looks or body, whether on display or not, needs to be kept to himself or needs to take place in a private setting with only the two of them present only if they have that kind of relationship. He doesn't have that relationship with her, so it needs not be said. He could have just used "dunking in booty shorts" without referencing her outfit at all in this convo. Truthfully, he needs not say anything unless they're dating or have been otherwise intimate. Clearly he overstepped a boundary and needs to apologize to her for it (publicly), but he needs to make himself aware that this ain't 1992 and shit that might have flown back then doesn't now so act accordingly.

Nobody is trying to absolve anyone of responsibility. But unless you can't admit the fact that it's crass to ask someone what they did to contribute to someone else violating them, especially their body/person, then you're not being honest. There's a reason that tactic isn't used when asking a victim of anything about what happened to them. Part of being good at analysis is also knowing what has and hasn't worked in the past. And that tactic hasn't worked.

Your 2nd bullet point is where the conversation lies and where it should be revolving around. The other shit is a completely different topic and when its injected into the situation at hand it does toe the line of victim blaming. Your 1st point isn't as black and white as you're trying to make it. Theres alot of factors you're not including in that analysis

You ever got jumped? Didn't the folks around you ask why you got jumped or what was their beef with you? Ain't you the victim in that situation? Why are they asking that?
Nigga gets robbed in the hood for his jewels: "Damn, nigga! You know better than to be shinin' over that way!"
Nigga gets beatdown/shot at for fuckin another niggas woman: "Nigga you know she had a man/husband! Fuck was you thinking???"

Shit happens all the time. And truthfully, it probably needs to happen more often.

And, let's not paint her as some kind of victim either; she's not. The nigga wasn't trying to push up on her, trying to get in her drawls, making statements about imagining them fucking or what she tastes like or no shit like that. He made a crass statement about an outfit she actually wore on a show that's seen internationally by millions of people. He could have left her out of it and just referenced the type of outfit, but he didn't.
