Shaq Faces Backlash For "Inappropriate" Comments Towards Angel Reese

Exactly that’s my problem with this discussion. That people are not looking at it in complete context in terms of what the conversation was about. Shaq for the past what, 30 years of me knowing of him, has always been the goofy guy that talks the way he talks. He’s always been a tongue in cheek, jokester, prankster type of a guy, so now all of a sudden, he’s this super creep?

Again the conversation was about how women can get the WNBA to get more viewership and money. The unfortunate part about this discussion is that women will sit back and hear this, and not take into account all the many men that they’ve looked at over the decades and found sexy who played professional sports. I’ve heard women talk about Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Vince Carter, Allen Iverson, and Hundreds of men over the decades. Women go to the games just to look at these and see which ball they can scoop up. We have a literal television show called basketball wives, based off the exploits of women, looking at men long enough to objectify them, and then wanting to have relations with them. We had plenty of videos of women being caught staring at men and ogling at them.

Yet when Shaq tries a to get women to tap into that same dynamic, he’s a creep? You have to exhaust every single option in order to get your business off the ground. NBA basketball sells off of everything. Merchandise, physical charisma of the players on a court, matchups of comparative and contrasting players as well as sex appeal. Shit for decades men wore short shorts. John Stockton was the last one who did but I get it

Lock Shaq up.

None of this matters unless you can find clips of people suggesting male athletes also use their looks and sexuality to promote their sports in the same manner that's been done to Angel Reese. Nobody is saying it's wrong to find athletes attractive. But aint nobody telling LeBron to play shirtless to get more eyes on the game

There’s nothing wrong with shaq since

1. He was joking

2. It’s kinda taken out of context

3. Blogs and posters are using the fake outrage and misconstrued comment for engagement

This is really nothing that people are acting appalled about and I’m tired of social media making people like this lol
yeah nigga you tripping

Yeah niggas almost a decade late to this Shaq shit.

1. He's a fed. Cop ass nigga. It wasn't just a PR stunt.

2. Him and Barkley blamed Breonna Taylor for her own death.

3. He brought his share and became the face of Papa John's knowing they were looking to deflect from the backlash of how racist their owner was.

He's just the Terry Crews of sports. Bitch nigga
since when is Terry crews a bitch nigga ?

You don’t think that men’s looks were used in concert to help promote the leagues they participate in? It’s obvious that it was. It’s why they use a players weight, height and physique in their overall analysis of them. Why do you think they call the NFL combine the underwear Olympics? So as far as Bron, LeBron doesn’t have to play shirtless, his skill set in relation to most peoples, on top of his build, is rare, the W is filled with players who are similar in skill to your regular everyday players so what are they going to do to standout?

You're talking about a completely different topic. Nobody is telling NFL players to wear tighter pants. Nobody is telling NBA players to wear shorter shorts to attract viewers. The way men's players looks are used is to evaluate their talent level. Not their ability to be marketable for how sexy somebody may find them

This who y’all defending…

PHOENIX -- Shaquille O'Neal will lose his special deputy's badge in Maricopa County because of language he used in a rap video that mocks former teammate Kobe Bryant.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Phoenix Suns center's use of a racially derogatory word and other foul language left him no choice. Arpaio made Shaq a special deputy in 2006 and promoted him to colonel of his largely ceremonial posse later that year.

"I want his two badges back," Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they're fired. I don't condone this type of racial conduct."

Shaq was seen in a video posted on the celebrity news and gossip Web site TMZ.com rapping that "Kobe couldn't do without me." O'Neal skewers the Lakers' star, with whom he won three straight NBA titles from 2000-2002 while with Los Angeles, for not being able to win a championship without him.

"I was freestyling. That's all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever," O'Neal told ESPN.com Monday. A call to the Suns on Tuesday seeking comment from O'Neal was referred to his public relations firm, which didn't immediately respond.

Arpaio, who describes himself as "America's Toughest Sheriff" and is best known for feeding jail inmates green bologna, clothing them in pink underwear, and making them work on chain gangs, said he didn't expect his actions would teach Shaq a lesson. But he hoped he learns that as a role model who wants to someday be a full-time sheriff, he needs to know his words matter.

"Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't think that either conduct should be out there publicly, even if media wasn't there," Arpaio said.

O'Neal previously served as a reserve officer with the Miami Beach Police Department while playing for the Miami Heat. He also volunteered with the Tempe Police Department after being traded to the Suns in February.
