MTV's Ananda Lewis Reveals She's Battling Stage 4 Cancer

It sucks for anyone to get cancer.

She sounds like a future Darwin Award winner though.

She refused to get the mammograms that could have helped them catch the cancer much earlier. She refused the surgery that would have basically gotten rid of the cancer (at the expense of her breasts, which admittedly is rough). She chose to keep her tumor because her body is intelligent (though her brain apparently isn't). And she chose to put her trust in unproven methods even knowing she was in a very precarious position as far as the cancer goes. It's like she was purposely trying to make a bad decision at every juncture.

Man I did not want to laugh but damn

It breaks my heart to see the relationship Black people have with science. I'm in a privileged position living with a scientist in a science hub in DMV, and I get with the history of the Tuskegee experiments why black folks don't trust science. But fuck it's super frustrating to watch and sad seeing Black folks get bamboozled by misinformation or getting poor medical/science advice.

It was hell during COVID to fight off my family for getting the vaccine when they were really sick

Went to school with some women that are fighting breast cancer right now. Doing home remedies and thinking your body is just going to fight it is wild to me

Fuck cancer
It's very common in the black community to not trust the government and science/medicine and trying to do the holistic shit. My own sister is refusing to get her kids any vaccines or medicine because of tik Tok videos and YouTube which is fucking terrifying

Death to all misinformation.
