The price gouging thing is real. The economy and inflation is actually doing well so you would think pricing would go down. Maybe the lack of interest rate cuts is contributing, but it’s probably more so companies know people will pay so they charge higher prices.

Same thing happened with gas prices back in the 2008 recession. Even though the price per barrel started going down gas prices remained high so companies could squeeze as much profit as possible before the demand dropped.

The qualifications are likely all income based

Stores have been caught price gouging so that's great. Curious if this would do anything to grocery stores that are more expensive than say walmart. You can get the same thing at another store but the price will be different



Someone's going to be paying for it lol

Let's be honest,

A lot of people will see good impact on all of these things. I have personally benefitted from the clearing of the medical debt and the CTC, which both happened under Biden.

I posted this a while back when it happened, but our oldest son was bit by a dog and broke his leg on the Super Bowl in 2023. We've never had a broken bone in our house so this was a first. We have insurance through work and at the time I was working for the city and my wife was working for the hospital where he had his surgery. He had surgery later that same week. When we got the medical bills in the mail about a month later, it was roughly $40,000. We literally looked at that shit and just let it be. Like, there's no way that we were going to pay for that.....so fuck it. We got a letter in the mail last winter that stated that our medical debt from that incident had been CLEARED fully. That shit was gone. They also wiped all of the medical debt from our other kids from doctor visits or random shit that we were never gonna pay.

The debt from the surgery was $40,000 total. The total from all of the other debt was about $6,000 and that had been from at least 7 years of shit. They had stuff from when our youngest son was born on there.

Now, we are not on any government assistance. We make too much money. At the time, we were making a little over $110,000 combined and we are married. So we don't qualify for anything like food stamps or day care vouchers. We bought our house last year in May and I've changed jobs since then. Our house was $525,000 and now combined, we make around $140,000. We got the letter about the medical debt AFTER we had already bought our house, changed jobs, and had another baby (she was pregnant when the dog bite happened).

So basically, even with a higher paying job and more combined income and an improved living situation, we still had our medical debt wiped. Now, neither of us have student loans but having that medical debt wiped is sort of like having student loan debt forgiven except you don't pay monthly for the medical debt like student loan debt. Still, that was $50,000 in debt that was just wiped and it happened under Biden with laws and policies that happened under Biden. Not Trump. Not Republicans that will block every single attempt at shit like that.

We were also getting that CTC too until, you guessed it, Republicans killed it.

So that's why I have been looking with a little side eye at people asking about Kamala's policies because I don't think niggas were really paying attention to Biden's policies. Biden DID A LOT OF SHIT SINCE HE'S BEEN IN OFFICE AND A LOT OF IT HAS HELPED AND IMPACTED BLACK PEOPLE.

And I get it that niggas are gonna put their political thinking caps on and get their shit off, but I can't sit here and act like NOTHING has been getting done or that there hasn't been shit done that has actually helped, impacted, and addressed a lot of shit that niggas be complaining about.

It's just wild seeing people finally paying attention during election season (which is common) and not realizing that a lot of shit that they are complaining about, has already been addressed and that there is literally an entire political party (Republicans), that solely exist to roll back or prevent any of those things that people are asking to get done from getting done.

Niggas would rather measure levels of Blackness than actually look at who is really coming for your Blackness..........
 
Niggas will call you a Democrat shill or try to tell you that both sides are equally bad for your Black ass when one side would rather watch you die and drown in debt and barely make it in day to day life living check to check, while there is a whole political party that wants to take the entire country back to the pre Civil Rights era right in our fucking faces.

Niggas have been measuring Blackness since Kamala hit the top of the ticket but have very little smoke for the Republicans that would love to see niggas measuring and gatekeeping Blackness while they roll education, healthcare, and our economy back to Pleasantville.

My son has had a few ER visits due to his asthma attacks and yeah those bills ain't no joke when they come. Glad yall were able to get some relief from that debt because medical debt cripples alot of people. Weren't Biden and Kamala also moving to not have medical debt affect your credit score too?

They did and our credit scores reflected positively after the debt was cleared. Also in 2019 we found out our youngest son was allergic to fish and he needed an EPI pen. At his appointment, they gave us the first EPI pen for free. They expire after 1 year. The price for a refill was $854. He started Pre-K in the fall of 2020 but we never refilled that bitch. We decided to wait until after the election when Biden won (called it) to go and try and refill it then. We refilled it in May 2021 and it only cost $47.

So for nearly 2 years were were playing with fire hoping that a toddler didn't have an allergic reaction to fish instead of paying half our rent for medicine that we hope we never have to use to sit in a cabinet.

The small sacrifices that people are making and financial decisions that niggas make daily are directly impacted by the ELECTED leaders in charge. They aren't Kings and Queens but they are responsible for setting the tone and the agenda that we collectively move on.

How any Black person can look at Trump and Biden with a straight face and come away thinking that Trump gives a single fuck abut your medical bills, rent, education, is fucking laughable and extremely embarrassing.

Biden can spend 2 years working impactful policy through a divided government like that money for Black farmers and niggas will scream and nitpick that. Meanwhile, Trump and his white supremacist Republicans will fight in ever imaginable way to prevent Black farmers from getting what's owed. Niggas will go in on Biden and Kamal and Democrats and do the bidding for Republicans while Trump is just sitting his fat as right in their faces just grifting away.

Nuance and detail is lost on some people. They’d rather 2-sides everything because admitting one side might just be better than another goes against their social media brainwashing.

Yeah my son has a peanut and shell fish allergy and has an epi pen for hs too. Found out just before last school year started my insurance wasn't covering it anymore and had to pay out of pocket. I was pissed but luckily his doctor found a similar one that didn't cost an arm and a leg

And this has been the biggest misstep with the conscious community. They are committed to painting both sides as equally bad while parroting Republican views and being too scared to jump into the political spectrum with two feet themselves.

Glad you got the relief. I really think people who take these extreme views on politics don’t have a family or any real responsibility. If they did they’d probably feel differently about the political landscape.

My brother in law and sister in law both had babies this year. If Kamala’s plan for a $6k child tax credit in the baby’s first year goes into effect that would help them tremendously.

And my brother in law would also be a first time homebuyer in the next year or so, and in that case he’d also get the $25k down payment assistance.

I think the rice varies from state to state due to laws in some cases. I remember some people telling me to go and get one from Michigan because I had family there and the prices were crazy here in Ohio. Michigan has a Democrat Governor and we have a Republican Governor in Ohio...........

My dad is 61. Single Black men 40 and up have had a number done on them by the propaganda. It's sad to see. My dad definitely peddles that red pill, incel, alpha male bullshit on Facebook and around people but he shuts that shit down around me because he knows that we don't fuck with that ignorant shit.

But between both of our families, we have a handful of 40 and up males and even some females that are on that track.

I hate it. They're family no matter what but it's sad as fuck and predictable.
