I had "The Tank", "Old Blue" and "Black Betty"

Now that you mention it, the car that was technically my first was a gold 1969 Chevy Biscayne we all named "The Tank". Got it running, but had some issues with the brakes that never got sorted out so I was never able to drive it.

My first car was a 1990 buck century that my grandparents gave me when my grandma brought a new car, her name was Coral because she was a "old lady" car. My car now is Besty...

Parents be spending like 10k on a prom
Buying 5k bags for sweet 16 birthday

But wanna teach a lesson with the first car..... Ok

Y'all got it

She's ungrateful but at the same time giving a teenager in 2024 a car that came out 30+ years ago and expecting them to be excited is also a bad decision. There's nothing about gift giving that says a person HAS to like your gift and quite often people suck at gift giving because they get some shit they want the person to have and not what that person actually wants.

It's shouldn't be a shock that in 2024 a teenager doesn't want to drive a damn Buick.

Shit I bought my daughter a 2001 Camry and the only thing she was focused on was her newfound freedom and gas money.

This muhfukka spoiled as hell.

My first car was a 1987 Volvo 240DL in 1999.

That lil girl is just an ingrate.

Real talk thoā€¦. They couldā€™ve bought her a high mileage 2007 Scion TC for the same price.

And the maintenance can literally be done in their driveway.

That's a 12 year difference. You know that damn Buick older than 12 years old lol

Nah, that Buick is either a few years older or possibly up to 4 years newer than that 01 Camry. They made that particular model of Century from '97 to '05.

You realize you just made my point by making the car nearly 20 years old right at best...and almost 30 at the worst? Lol.

Before I react to anything someone says or does, I try to ask myself 'Has this person done something WRONG to me?'. Not something I just don't like. Or think they shouldn't have done. etc, etc. Are they WRONG?

I don't think the girl did or said anything wrong. She feels how she feels. She explained exactly why she feels the way she feels. She did it respectfully.

I'd just tell her 'Ok, well I'm sorry you don't like the car. But...that's your car. You don't have to drive it if you don't like it or don't want to. I respect it.I'ma go ahead and put the keys over here in the drawer. If you ever decide you want to go anywhere, you know where to find them.'

She can drive that bitch or not drive it. That's her decision. But it's either that, the bus, or them feet.

If the car runs, is clean in the inside and has a fairly straight body, and reasonably mechanically sound, what difference does it make if it's 20, 30, or 40 years old???

Seriously, this is 32 years old

You think it's reasonable to turn this down in this condition???

This one is 30 years old, pull up with this, leather intact and all and it's a problem???

Like I said, 1993, my then 19 year old was HAPPY to get the 1993 Taurus we gave her. Damn car was a year older than she was at the time and it didn't matter. What mattered was that she had a car and could get around without getting a ride from us or one of her friends.

I'd personally try to buy her something newer & more reliable but false are petty & always want to be stylish .
