Official Wrestling News Thread

You know what I mean any news that's slightly negative being reported here comes the WWE Justice League. Relax my brother.
I just want to know. What would it take for you to admit they're doing bad? Is their a number? I said this at 800k viewers and the free fall is continuing.

Ticket sales are getting worse. Buyrates are getting worse. Ratings are getting worse. Can you at least admit that this is concerning?? That maybe something should be done to try and reverse these trends?

Still false. It was not created by Meltzer, it's a valuation that was determined based on the public documents available.

Corps overpay in regards to acquisitions often, that usually is followed with cuts. Which is coincidentally what is happening with the WWE.

WWE and WCW were both hot at the same time but WCW were washing them for 83 weeks straight which means what? WWE were number 2.
I did not say WWE are to blame for anything. My point is quite clearly that when one company is hot, the other will be number 2 or run cold.

Again, it doesn't matter if you tell yourself whatever you're telling yourself or what the WWE indoctrination told you, the hard numbers are there and are accessible.
AEW is a privately owned company. So no there are no hard numbers.

The hard numbers that we can actually see show them giving away tickets for last nights show because they couldn't get 2500 people into their building.

Yeah WWE and WCW were hot at the same time. So AEW could be hot. That they're not is of their own doing.

If they were doing bad WBD would have dropped them, they finish top 3 in their timeslot for each show they have, this also ignores DVR numbers, when they are factored in, it's much higher, meaning the network is happy with them. They are not doing bad. The free fall you are talking vehemently about does not exist.

TV has been the most important part of modern Wrestling for decades now as opposed to live houses and buyrates. If this wasn't true, the Netflix deal, tv rights and the importance of the WWE library would not be a big deal. If AEW decided to run smaller houses and sold them out consistently, this wouldn't even be a point of discussion.

Playoffs and they also went coast to coast affecting their westcoast viewership.

got confused for a second I was thinking they didn't go head to head w/ Basketball but it's football that they never go head to head w/

There are publicly availble numbers that are covered regularly by Wrestlenomics. Good podcast, you should probably listen.

In what world is 700-800k on cable not a hot number? Learn how seat fillers genuinely work, WWE uses them also.

Like I said, for them to hit the numbers of 2021, WWE has to go cold again. It's absolutely reciprocal.

There were definitely AEW viewers that were just waiting for WWE to get good again and now they're good again, they dipped. That's just the business.

The shows split a portion of their audience. Also AEW was up when they had Punk because they were able to reel some of the overall lapsed fans back in. Now that he gone some those ppl have dipped back out

Apr. 26, 2023: 863,000 / .26
Jan. 3, 2024: 801,000 / .26
Apr. 24: 683,000 / .23

100k loss in viewership in 4 months. Free fall.
200k loss in viewering year over year. Free fall.

And yeah it's pretty fucking bad to lose a fifth of your audience when your rights are up. Is this even the floor? Because so far the chart is just aimed down.
