Lupe had Hov as an executive producer in name only. Hov ain’t put no money behind the release of an Atlantic project. Kanye did a beat for the project and so did Pharrell.

That doesn’t change the fact that GKMC was marketed with aftermath/interscope dollars. Kendrick had the full support of Dre just like Eminem did in 99. Atlantic wasn’t positioned to handle rappers who made more thought provoking rap (see little brother)…
