The Criteria For A Hiphop Legend?

Didn't yall vote "We Gon Make It" the best song of 2001? The year Blueprint and Stillmatic dropped?

so whats the official criteria - because without it there are no wrong answers in these threads

Cant do nothing but respect this level of effort. And its all facts.

I was gonna spin the block and say Gucci is also a legend based on all this that you posted...although I def wouldn't have had this level of detail lol

I can definitely admit that Gucci is a co-founder of what we know as trap now.

Im still pushing back in regards to Jeezy not being a legend or having a legendary run.

From 05 - 08 he had the rap game in a chokehold b

A classic Mixtape (Trap or Die)
2 classic albums...one of which is genre defining (TM 101 and The Recession)
3 straight Platinum albums (He has four straight but TM 102 dropped in 2011)

Essential in establishing ATL as the new epicenter of hip hop culture

and we already talked about his contribution as a pioneer w/ Gucci of what we know as trap music
Sorry but I still gotta respectfully disagree.

A good mixtape and platinum albums dont make you a legend. Especially if you weren't the only person doing that during your era.

He didnt establish ATL as anything, ATL already made a name for itself pre Jeezy. You ignored all of SosoDef era, Outkast, Goodie Mobb, Lil Jon and a few others I prob forgot.

Jezzy running the rap game from 05-08 is legit a wild statement to make. A lot of big artists came out and older artist were still dropping heat during that time. He was def a factor in the rap game during that time & was running with the leaders, but he wasnt running it.

During that time Lil Jon was still putting out hits, Outkast was still together, Ross debut came out, Akon was everywhere, Yung Joc, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, 50/G-Unit, Eminem, Khaleds fat ass started his run, T-Pain, Snoop, Ludacris, Nelly, Lil Wayne Diddy, Soulja boi (he was trash but still sold).

A few of those people i listed almost went gold or went gold and almost platinum their first week during that time. Others won grammys. You really gunna say all those heavy hitters (and im sure I left out people) I listed were chasing Jeezy, trying to catch up? No way.

Jeezy was one of the top rappers during his prime, but he wasnt running the rap game.
