The Official MCU Thread

Slim you got use movies that's not even DCEU (Nolan's Batman) and stuff as far back as 30 years to even complete w/ what the MCU has done.

Superman 1 &2
Batman
Batman returns
Batman begins
Dark Knight

Can hold up to any mcu movie.

Sure they're all prior to 2008, but it wasn't till 2008 that marvel really did major damage. Before then it's all Superman & Batman and it's not even close

That's the crack y'all smoking

But we're smoking crack?

"riight"

Isn't that self ether to compare 40 years of a property's content to 10 years of another's?

That's like arguing Blackberry against iPhone.

Not really.

Because what marvel did in the past 10 was the most profitable game changer in comics history.

It absolutely was a masterful move, and worked on all levels.

I think those 10 years were a hell of a run, and many props that studio and all the work they put in. The actors, the directors, all that... It was a perfect storm.

And yes DC has been trailing to catch up the past 10 years on the big screen.

But....

Before 2008....... in the movie theaters DC reigned supreme...

And while Marvel's run was phenomenal money wise, movie for movie there's not much separation I'm on the overall quality of the product of both brands.

Dark Knight might not the highest grossing film, but I still haven't seen a marvel movie I felt was better than dark Knight. I'll chop that up to personal bias.... But it's whatever....

I think that 10 year run will be Marvel's best run....

DC still has the more classic characters.... Once they get in their groove theyll take the spot back....

But I'll back out of this for today..... I've derailed or "trolled" enough

Y'all got it

It's most definitely self ether. Du is forgetting that in most of that time DC was reigning supreme as he calls it, Marvel didn't even have a movie studio and most of their major properties were licensed to other companies. Marvel studios has only existed for a decade, and in one decade Marvel was able to crush everything DC had built. I don't really care about the Marvel vs DC argument that much, but I struggle to see how that's a good look for DC.

I'm not much for the back and forth myself. We disagree, but I appreciate your arguments.

this makes no sense

thats like comparing the headstart that Nike had to under armor

DC "reigned" as you put it b/c Marvel's offerings were just movies that studios bought the rights to. There was no clear vision to create a universe, have movies, actors, stories, etc..intertwine with each other

DC practically milked ONE franchise with several reboots in the process, with each getting worse until the Dark Knight.

ha, we had the same thought lol

Dude you already admitted DC had a 35/40 year head start and Marvel pass them in 10.

DC can't keep their main actors, Execs keep switching, and there Universe can't get off the ground cuz it literially hinges on if the previous film is a success.

Marvel would have to just stop for DC to TRY and catch up.

That's ok though

According to one Chicago poster, dc should just stick to making only Batman origin films

Chloe Zhao has nabbed the gig to direct Marvel’s next potential franchise, the Jack Kirby-created title The Eternals.

Matthew and Ryan Firpo, whose spec script Ruin topped the 2017 Black List, penned the script for the superhero team adventure.

The project features the super-powered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals and a more monstrous off-shoot known as the Deviants that were created by cosmic beings known as Celestials.

Kirby created the title in 1976 during his cosmic hero stage and was influenced by such works as Chariots of the Gods, which explored ancient gods as aliens.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that one aspect to the story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.

The project also allows Marvel to assemble a diverse cast of various shapes and sizes.

The director search for Eternals narrowed in the last few weeks of summer, with a shortlist consisting of Watchmen pilot helmer Nicole Kassell, Travis Knight (Bumblebee, Kubo and the Two Strings), as well as Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra, the duo behind Colombian movie Birds of Passage.

Chinese-born Zhao was already well known to Marvel as she went down the road with the company on Black Widow, the standalone featuring Scarlett Johansson's spy heroine. That gig ultimately went to Cate Shortland.

Eternals is a big opportunity for WME-repped Zhao, who will be going from the settings of Native American reservations and American Heartland from her indie festival darlings The Rider and Songs My Brothers Taught Me to the epic global, if not intergalactic, scale of this Marvel project.

Marvel had no comment.

I said a couple of days ago this would be a good way to bring in Rogue....

Somewhere in B-more.....

Not even.... That was the main reason I had no faith in the next phase .

We'd never get the storm/bp wedding or rogue taking Captain marvel powers or classic moments like xmen vs avengers unless they found a way to make this happen....

I think it's a plus.... Cuz I was positive they were ready to fizzle out without the X-Men
