Spend That (Wicked A** Song or Is That Your Jam?)

Bruh, I've heard from 1st degree accounts, that Gospel Tours have some of the most freakiest hedonistic shit you can imagine....

My college gospel choir was doing freak shit on the annual tours

I was listening to a podcast a month or so ago that made reference to some of the stuff Aretha Franklin said happened on the gospel tours she went on. All types of orgies and drug use. And I'm guessing it wasn't the word of God that told them old ass pastors to get teenage choir singers pregnant.

And as a nigga who went to a Catholic school up til 10th grade...yeah that shit don't mean much at all to a teenager who wanna do some wild shit with their friends.

It's not, cuz I mean, how many times you jacked up drunk niggas in the club cuz they were wilding...?? irregardless to whatever personal demons they were dealing with.

You got your own shit too, but your outlet isn't to get drunk, go out and fuck with people who having a good time. You move better than that, and you recognize to sit there and impact others people's good time cuz of a person's irresponsibility to have a good time is not your personal problem. In fact you have been in an industry that removes the trouble maker.

All I'm saying is don't fuck up a good time for responsible people for irresponsible people. That's now fair.

If a whole room can jam too a *violent* song peacefully
I just don't think we need violence, negativity and toxicity in the music to enjoy it or have a good time lol. And the black community doesn't need to be chief representative of fuckshit through rap/hiphop so wealthy white men can keep having us bang eachother over the head with it so they can make billions while we pick up the pieces.

This ain't about not wanting people to have a good time lmao. But I promise you the toxicity and negativity in rap was never needed to have that. Good times existed before toxic rap. Parties happened before toxic rap lol.

And people still had violence, gangs, drug dealing etc in their everyday lives. Not talking about it didn't make it go away.

Bruh, respectfully.... And I know we've had our disagreements.. But I promise you, I talk to everybody in my circle the same way I talk to y'all.

I ain't tryna hear that shit. Black people don't need to be the moral role models of music. That shit is dumb.

We should be allowed to be just as bullshit as every body else....

Cuz again... People gonna go after what they want.

You tell black folks they can't make negative music.... Then we all look like @genocide_cutter

I mean...what do you expect people to do? Not make certain types of songs or movies or tv shows because somebody might take it the wrong way? Because people say they want the "balance of the old days" when even in the "old days" people still complained about it. So what is the alternative? Because you can't control how people interpret or take in entertainment. I mean we went after every form of media that people says has a negative or potentially negative influence you're left with nothing because none of it has a clean slate. Shit people even use gospel music to excuse away heinous shit.

I mean some are saying remove the content. Ok. Then what? Is the poverty that exists magically gonna disappear? Are the same parents who let their kids hear Spend Dat all of a sudden going to be better parents?
Im saying why not do something else. Im saying why is funneling negativity to and through the black community seem like a priority to white executives?

Again the toxicity and negativity in rap is just one of a plethora of things. Its a symptom not the disease.

Y'all think niggas wilding now....

Wait till Chicago YN's riding around to drowning pool talking about let the bodies hit the floor. 😭😭😭

So then we can just end the back and forth here.

If you're not trying to hear nothing imma stop wasting my time.

But you attacking symptoms....

A large majority of black folks can listen to aggressive negative music vicariously......

I'll never forget a chick who favorite song was "I'm so hood" being repulsed cuz I was actually so hood.... Good chick. I used to turn off my phone to let her know she had my full attention.

And people still had violence, gangs, drug dealing etc in their everyday lives. Not talking about it didn't make it go away.
I never claimed rap started the drug trade or that violence and gangs didn't exist before toxic rap. You're just talking to talk.

Thats a completely different argument than should the content be made in general. Which some feel it shouldn't exist at all. And exactly the point me and Du have been making. The shit people complain about is a symptom. So eliminating the content won't eliminate the problem. And thats what people don't get when they make the stance that music "makes people commit crimes".

There's been a theme in not only this discussion and previous ones that certain types of content shouldn't exist at all.
You're slightly mistaken....
Not at all...

ONLY from the black community.

Every other genre of music that has negative content can still exist..... But negative rap and hip hop must be abolished

Are other genres talking about pushing dope, scamming niggas, and murking opps?

In other genres, are they encouraging their women to say fuck the cops?

Are other genres encouraging their women to look for a gangsta ass nigga with money?

Both you and Du stated that you wouldn't let your children listen to Spend Dat.

But, you are ok with other parents letting their kids listen to it?

Before you respond, you have post saying how parents should do a good job parenting but here you are advocating for the song to be played in which kids will hear it?

So you and Du can shield your kids but express that music like this to continue to pump the airwaves and appear on platforms to damage other kids?
