FIFA World Cup 2026 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇲🇽

Added to Calendar: 35 dates

Shit my neighbor tells me her son is good enough to be scouted by Man Utd s academy they been in contact

She tells me they spends thousands of dollars annually driving him up and down the Midwest for soccer games camps and etc

Private equity have over taken youth sports in the US so everything costs money

Yeah the costs over here is the fuel and time, taking your kid to training...

The club should put on transport for games though, thats how it is in the UK if you are part of Chelsea, Arsenal, United academy...

Though if you only play for a normal Saturday/Sunday recreational league then its down to the parents to get your kids to games and buy kit etc but its normally very local so the costs are pretty low...

How in the fuck did that even happen? I was in the gym when I saw Egypt up 2-0 at the 65 min mark.

I came back from the corner to see Argentine up 3-2 in stoppage time.

What THEE fuck?

Man my son played at the highest level of a club team and we paid $5k per season just in fees. That didn’t include travel, gear, etc. and we were traveling all over the southeast US.

And that was from 2011-2020. No doubt it’s gone up since then.

If we had wildly popular clubs like those in Europe, those fees would probably be doubled or tripled.

In other countries, to Water’s point, it’s not that expensive, at least that’s what I’ve heard.

I’m not sure if it’s like this in other European countries, but I was reading that in Norway they have the kids play for fun until they’re older. In the US they’re playing to win all the time so the sport becomes a job and the kids burnout by 13. My son had practice 4 days a week with games all weekend. By time he got to high school he just wanted to play school ball.

If the system was better you’d have more talented kids joining the sport and then you’d see just how good black Americans can be in the sport.

I told my son from jump this was in investment into a college scholarship lol. I was probably part of the problem but that shit was expensive as fuck. And I was just responding to how the system was setup. If it was cheaper I wouldn’t have minded him playing just for fun.

Needless to say it was bittersweet when he decided to drop out. Bitter cause of the sunk cost but sweet not having to pay anymore and him just playing for fun again.
