Bro you realizing you're defeating your own argument. The issue isn't necessarily the subject matter. It's how it's presented. As We Lay wasn't promoting cheating. The song pretty specifically painted it as a bad thing.

I'm not nor did I deny that they weren't played. But for 1 I also said radio, especially then, was very regional. Outside of major national hits alot if of stuff more regional. So what you heard in one city would he different than another. Like yeah they played rap on the radio, but DC also dedicated literally about 4 hrs+ to gogo music. Thats a nice chunk of time. So here the rap music played on the radio was limited more and more geared toward a different type of rap.

As far as songs that got alot of play that weren't bang bang shoot em up in the last 15 years, remember i also said it's been years since I've even listened to traditional radio, so what i list is gonna include songs a decade or more old since you said 15 years

That's a mix of songs over the last 15 years and im sure there's more. But all of these were hit songs that all got national radio play and were hit records. Plain and simple the radio market ain't the same as it used to be. Shit some artists drop without even releasing an actual single til weeks after the project is out. Add in satellite radio where it's made things like radio singles, and most importantly the radio edit of a.song, and so many direct to consumer ways to get music out then you get a radio market that has changed in terms of it's reach but not much in content thats being played.

But if it's a song affiliated with a movie about the subject matter, it shouldn't bring this much outrage imo when songs from soundtracks have been doing this since I've been born

This like getting upset about songs from the Players club about things associated with that world

You know what, let's take the movie affiliation out of the equation

My larger point remains. There are always going to be songs that probably shouldn't be as successful as they are but this isn't the last song that will be this popular.

Instead of blaming the culture, how about people start promoting other songs in an effort to drown out these types of songs

This has been discussed ad nauseam before. Black culture in America is American culture. You know what American culture has always propped up...the outlaw. The rule breakers, criminals and the crimes they committed. In all mediums of entertainment thats a consistent theme. So to expect rap music to be any different is foolish.
