you said you haven’t been following the saga, so I jokingly @‘d you so you could be in the know straight from the horses mouth as to a couple of things he feels contributed to his career not being as big as it could be.

It’s a small clip from a 6 hour conversation that I definitely won’t be listening to in full. I’m sure he speaks on some of the things I said during our conversation

As far as the shoes go, he says in the clip that the label is responsible for sending the pictures that billboard selects for their magazine. The pictures that the label chose to send were pictures from BEFORE the Reebok deal.

are you seeing how even when dude tells you exactly what happened, you are questioning your own expertise in the matter as if it matters? Dude is saying in the clip how it had nothing to do with his “team or lack there of” (as you put it) but you gotta slide in your interpretation of dude telling you what happened?

I'm relaxed, bro. I promise you care about this topic a lot more than I do. I legit didn't understand what your point in @ing me to that video was.

Also, your interpretation of things is hilarious. Did you actually listen to what he said? I did.

He got a Reebok deal.
He got a cover on Billboard.
Billboard doesn't do photo shoots. They get their pictures from the labels.
The label sent Billboard the pics they had.
Billboard picked the one they like.
Lupe was wearing Nikes in the pic.
Reebok dropped him.

That's what happened. That's what he said. Guess whose responsibility it was to ensure that he didn't breach his contract with Reebok. That's right. His, not the label or Billboard, but his because he's the one that had the contract with Reebok. It's hilarious to me that you accuse me of sliding in interpretation when you made a statement like "Dude is saying in the clip how it had nothing to do with his “team or lack there of” (as you put it)." He didn't even say that. That's literally just your interpretation, and it's factually wrong because, again, he absolutely should have put more effort into making sure no image of his likeness was put out in a way that would conflict with his other endeavors.

He's the one that signed the contract with Reebok.
He's the one that was supposed to take new promo pics in Reebok and inform his label not to use anymore material featuring other shoes.
He's the one that was supposed to inform Billboard not to use any images that feature him in other shoes.
He's the one that was supposed to request a final review before his image was used by Billboard.

And before you try to pull some silly excuse out of your ass, please understand that Lupe didn't stumble onto unknown territory. Celebrities, mostly atheetes, have been navigating this territory since apparel contracts got big in the 80s. Lupe might not have known, and that's fine. That's why a lot of celebrities have teams to take care of details like that.

Now do I know for sure he didn't do any of that. Nope, but he didn't say he did any of that, and he also didn't say anything about suing Billboard for the lost revenue, which is absolutely something he could have and would have done if they lost him a big contract because they didn't follow his instructions.
