Nah, making an album is more than a hobby. You pursuing a career in music. And of course it wasnt his main hustle, he had no music career yet.

If we're being real, until you are paid enough to quit your main hustle, every musician/performer is doing it as a hobby.

that starving artist shit is real. Theres plenty of people who fully commited themselves to producing art at the expense of everything else.

Especially in those times throughout major cities from ny to Detroit to LA they had areas where artists would pile themselves in cheap housing and dedicate themselves to honing and promoting their craft. These would be hot spots for house parties unregulated concerts and all kinds of cool stuff in the 90s and before

That's another causality of these ethnic cleansing/gentrification waves. It deaded all that

I know that, and the other side is them having to do shitty low wage jobs or whatever to have food to eat/shelter or pay for studio time, while they pursue/hone their craft. Those shitty(or not shitty) side jigs are still their main hustle until they can eat from their art.
