OPINION How Many? #1 (Kyrie Irving)

Starting a thread series called "How Many?" What I'll do is present a question of "how many - regarding players, positions, team, etc.- that you think you can name/rank ahead of whatever/whoever." You guys will then state a number then try to prove it by listing off names up to that number.

ie... How many players all time are better than Shaquille O'Neal?

I say 7.

(Then list off or attempt to list off 7 players I think are definitively better, doesn't have to be in order)

2. LeBron
3. Wilt
4. Magic
5. Kareem
6. Tim Duncan
7. Bill Russell

Everyone posts their number and subsequent lists and we agree or debate.

Todays topic will be Kyrie Irving. Specifically prime kyrie irving.

How many point guards in their prime can you name that are better than prime kyrie irving?

Do you only think these 5 in their prime are better than kyrie in his prime or are you saying all of the above?

And prime Tony Parker is not better than prime kyrie. Neither is Brunson. Im not sure if im going on Gary Payton either but I can be convinced.

You gotta prove those other ones to me tho.

We're comparing number one options(minus Parker) to someone who is an elite number 2 option on a good team lol

Jalen Brunson is way better than Kyrie and its not close and I knew this before he won a championship.

I would absolutely rather have Tony Parker than Kyrie

Kyrie’s game is more enjoyable to watch than Westbrooks but Russ a former MVP and been a number one option



I get it.....Kyrie has one of the most esthetically pleasing games to watch but he's never received a single mvp vote in his life and everytime he's a number one option its a disaster.....like what are we doing here lol


And yes theres more that could be listed and debated

Really hard player to rate when your eyes and the results tell you two different things

Like pull up almost any matchup and Kyrie was better than whoever he was playing but then you look up and his teams lost. This is him as the best player on his team. I just looked it up and his record when Bron didn't play when they were on the same team was 4-13.

As a number #2 though he was really good. And he was amazing next to Luka.

And then some older dudes who I didn't see play but you can throw on this list like

Honestly can even throw Luka on there already. Even SGA already.

That's 14.

And this ain't even saying hes 15.

Just saying the highest I can make an argument for him is 15.

Even then he probably loses to Tony Parker now and Brunson over takes him in another year or two.

So I'm gonna go with 15 for now

Kyrie just been better for longer.

You know Brunson is my guy and Brunson will definitely be above Kyrie when its said and done.

Just need him to do it for 2 more years.

Kyrie been in the league for what? 12-13 years?

Brunson been in the league for 8 and hes been this version of himself for 4.

Its not fair to Brunson to compare.

But give Brunson 2 more years at this level and be jumps Kyrie and a few others too.

Nah lol....its levels to this and Im not going sit here and let yall put a number 2 option who couldn't even sniff the playoffs as the number one seed in Cleveland and had a disastrous playoffs against Milwaukee when he was with Boston and yall are comparing him to MVPs, finals MVPs, Number one options who have consistently led their teams to the playoffs ect

Kyrie could never lead a team and be a number one option like Brunson did. This man just put up 45 points in a close out game and brought a championship to the Knicks and we're talking about is he better than Kyrie Irving lmaoooooooo


Like I said Kyrie has never received a single regular season MVP vote in his life

His game is smooth and fun to watch and he's a really good scorer and a great number 2.....thats it.......He's someone you would ever want as your best player because you're going nowhere

I don't disagree with none of this.

If you take my list and add Brunson over Kyrie, I wouldn't have a problem. Same with Tony Parker.

Like I said 15 is the highest I can make a case for him. If I had to decide today Brunson > Kyrie.

But I do need Brunson to do it for a minimum of 2 more years at this level to say I can't even make an argument for Kyrie over Brunson.

Being good for a long time period is important to me.

I can't say you wrong bout anything you saying though.
 
I also didn’t think about the other PGs likeSifting through SGA and Brunson

Sifting through 25 PGs I didn’t have the capacity for lol

Russ and Kyrie not that far off to me. Bump Russ down and put Kyrie at 14 if you want.

To me Russ in his prime was more unstoppable. But they both like right there. Pick one to go over the other and the difference is only a bit.
