OKLAHOMA CITY – The state’s minimum wage will remain at $7.25.

Voters on Tuesday defeated State Question 832 which would have gradually increased the minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2029 with additional increases based on the cost of living.

Oklahoma’s minimum wage has been $7.25 an hour since 2009. It is also the national minimum wage.

“The State Chamber applauds Oklahoma voters for rejecting SQ 832,” said Chad Warmington, president and CEO of the State Chamber. “Tonight, voters chose to protect Oklahoma’s economic momentum and one of our greatest competitive advantages: affordability.”

Longtime Donald Trump critic George Conway ignited a fierce response from the White House after releasing a provocative campaign ad in his bid for Congress, in which he vowed to impeach the president and send him to prison if elected.

White House attacks George Conway

Conway, a prominent anti-Trump attorney and political commentator, officially entered the race in January to replace retiring New York Democrat Jerry Nadler. But it was his latest campaign video that quickly drew national attention — and an angry reaction from the Trump administration.

In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, the White House sharply attacked Conway personally, accusing him of being consumed by opposition to Trump.

“Lightweight George Conway is a stupid person’s idea of a smart person,” the statement said. “His severe and debilitating disease known as Trump Derangement syndrome has melted his brain and made him crazy in the head.”

Donald Trump could get impeached

Conway, who was previously married to former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, wasted little time going after the president in the campaign ad, opening with a direct message aimed squarely at Trump himself.

“Hi, Donald, it’s me, George Conway. I cost you 88 million f****** dollars, and I’ve only just gotten started,” he said.

The comment referenced the $88 million Trump was ordered to pay writer E. Jean Carroll in a defamation case after he denied allegations connected to a separate sexual assault lawsuit that Carroll had previously won. Conway has publicly taken credit for introducing Carroll to the attorney who ultimately secured the judgment.

Tying Donald Trump to broader economic frustrations

The ad then escalated further, with Conway issuing an even more pointed warning.

“But the only thing your name is going to be left on when I’m done with you is the orange jumpsuit you’re going to have to wear in prison,” he said.

Pointing toward the U.S. Capitol building, Conway continued, “That’s where we’re going to hold your third and final impeachment trial. The one that’s going to put you away for good, and I’m going to enjoy every minute of that.”

Conway closed by tying Trump to broader economic frustrations, saying, “But we can’t fix those problems until we can impeach you and convict you. And that’s why I’m running for Congress. And you are going to regret that.”

Carlos Mencia

The DA's office said it will be the first case filed by the newly created Business Tax Fraud Unit.

Comedian Carlos Mencia was arrested on June 18, 2026, and charged with 12 felony counts of tax evasion by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. Prosecutors allege he failed to file personal and corporate tax returns from 2019 to 2024, hiding $8.7 million in income and evading over $300,000 in state taxes.

Current Criminal Charges. This case marks the first prosecution by LA's newly formed Business Tax Fraud Unit. Mencia, whose legal name is Ned Arnel Holness, faces six felony counts for personal income tax and six for corporate tax related to his company, Nedlos Entertainment. Authorities state he ignored 78 notices from the California Franchise Tax Board; if convicted on all counts, he could face over 10 years in prison plus significant civil penalties. He was arrested at his Encino home and held on $250,000 bail.

Previous Federal Tax Liens. Prior to these criminal charges, Mencia faced civil tax issues in 2021 when the IRS filed liens against three properties he owned in Roseburg (reports vary between Georgia and Oregon locations in search snippets, but liens were filed in Douglas County). Those liens claimed he and his wife Amy owed nearly $1.2 million in unpaid federal income taxes for the years 2013, 2014, and 2015.
