Foreigners in America for the World Cup reacting to American stuff for the first time

This is actually pretty interesting to me. Tourists come to America from other countries all the time, so I was a little confused by all these videos with people acting like America is Wakanda and just opened up to outsiders last week. It didn't really occur to me that most tourists really only visit like 10-15 places in this country. With this World Cup, many of the tourists are seeing places more representative of what America is on average. I can see how some of this stuff might be surprising.

This has been an interesting aspect of the world cup. Especially the people who've been in smaller towns and cities discovering the non TV/movie visuals of the country.

Its weird because it seems like it's building some goodwill towards America again. From what I've seen the response has been universally positive.

Or like the handful of vactationing tourist assholes they met that one time.

True. That seems to be a recurring theme: Americans visit other countries and act like assholes. Kinda think this is more to blame on well-to-do if not rich Americans moreso than the average Moe that saved up to take the family or S/O someplace nice.

I think a combination of snobby well-off Americans and young party goers/Spring Breakers.

And they ain't even get to the hood....

They're blown away by fried chicken
They're blown away by waffles...

Like individually.... They ain't even realize you can put them together yet

Be clear too.

This footage is CONTENT.

While true, who is consuming the content? These are Europeans that make content mostly for Europeans, not us. So all of this good will towards the US is being seen mostly by Europeans, and its in direct contrast of what they've been told about us.

Content or not, it's still painting the US in a far more favorable light.

Reading this. I finally understand. For these tourists, coming to America is like going to Walmart or Sams for the very first time after only ever being exposed to Dollar General or Family Dollar. You're going to be amazed by how much you can get, the cost, the size of the store, and the convenience of having access to damn near everything you in one store. It's going to feel even better for you shopping there if you don't know anything about their crappy business practices or the negative impacts the stores have on local community businesses.
