Yup

Chances of winning two games in MSG are very slim

Spurs dont have the balls to do it this early in the series but they should stop fucking around with Fox and start Harper

I understand to an extent why they dont want to do that because thats something you might not be able to comeback from and things could get awkward.....but this is the finals, have to start and close with your best players if you're trying to win it all

After we strike out on giannis

I’m not a Trump guy but this is standard procedure for any sitting president. It’s a big deal because he’s unliked.

Yeah, it's standard procedure, which is why they in recent history typically don't attend these events unless they're of global significance (the Olympics, World Cup, etc.) or national significance (post-9/11 events, for example).

Trump has done it multiple times now across several sports. And while I honestly believe there's a decent chance he's a legitimate Knicks fan, I still can't get past the selfishness of it—if you're supposedly a fan—because you're effectively gutting your team's home-court advantage during its best opportunity in half a century.

The Spurs are supposed to have to deal with the commute into MSG, with a rabid crowd letting them hear it all the way from the hotel to the tunnel of the MSG parking lot. Then they're supposed to deal with that same energy again once they step onto the court.

Instead, you've cleared the streets outside and created a distraction big enough to shift the focus of the entire arena. Bad enough that the loudest of the fanbase won't be able to attend due to prices.

Ehhhh if he from NYC he’s allowed to watch the hometown team in the finals

I don’t wanna hear that home court advantage shit

Is Trump being there going to stop fans from cheering for the Knicks? No

Lol home court advantage don't matter now? What are we doing? A middle school baller wouldn't even say that shit.

Yeah, people outside the arena has no effect. Look at them leaving the hotel for practice. Imagine outside the arena coming in right before the game.

No rest from stepping outside the hotel, to walking in the arena, to stepping on the court. People don't understand how different a united New York citizenship can be. This isn't football because of Jets/Giants split. This isn't baseball because of Yankees/Mets split. Brooklyn hasn't gotten a real foothold in the city yet and won't until they're consistently great or field a championship to poach younger fans.

So I understand why folks from other cities don't understand it. Other towns can't do it to this level so you can't grasp the concept. Only some of those major Euro cities with soccer can compare.

Lmao bro this has nothing to do with the game being played

Let me find out if the Knicks lose, you gonna blame it on Trump and fans not having a watch party outside

Don’t do this man

I'll ignore the implied hyperbole of the Knicks losing "because" of Trump and watch parties. That's silly.

But you've never played organized sports have you? Do you believe home court advantage begins and ends between the lines? There's far too many interviews, reports, and other content out there of professional athletes speaking to the contrary. Let alone every other level or athletics. Some thrive in hostile environments and others don't but if the consensus is that you were about to have one of the most insane home court advantages in the history of sports it's idiotic to give back even a tenth of that for the sake of a singular goof.

Do you think the Knicks not having fans outside the arena during the game can impact their play tomorrow?

Yes or no

Do you think the Knicks not having fans outside the arena during the game can impact their play tomorrow?

Yes or no

You're doing the vacuum thing again. To answer your extremely narrow and specific question, no. However:

  1. Do I think it lowers the temperature a few percentage points for the Spurs by moving fans away from the arena? Yes.
  2. Do I think being asked about it multiple times today could be distracting, given that the Knicks have undoubtedly spent additional time with their PR team being coached on their answers beforehand when that time could have been spent game-planning? Yes.
  3. Do I think the additional security measures that even the players will have to go through create an unnecessary nuisance—one you'd typically expect in a road arena rather than your own? Yes.
It boils down to, it doesn't matter if YOU think nothing of it. The Knicks fans are all over socials telling the world what THEY think of it. The energy has already been slightly displaced. This is one of the most strong willed teams in a long time so I think they can and will overcome it but it's STUPID to handicap your own team even if it is only by a single stroke or two.

And that's just the basketball/athletics side of it all. I'm not even diving into the taxpayer funds aspect, the possible mental dynamic of KAT's mom passing of COVID and now you have him being asked questions about the chief facilitator and denier being in the building during his most important moment.

Thanks for the response I appreciate it

I’m just going to disagree

especially when the original argument was home court advantage being taken away somehow

which is asinine to me

Go Knicks 🤪
