It might be annoying, but I didn't think that should keep anyone away from traveling somewhere. The blatant racism where they know exactly what they are doing is another story.

Sometimes people don't really understand how unique a country the US is. There are VERY few countries that were formed by immigrants, openly welcomed immigrants and have a million different cultures woven into one to create a separate culture. China is the EXACT opposite. It's a monolith. ALL chinese people are ethnically asian and mostly ethnically chinese. And the government controls the media and access to the internet.

Now consider those people in those small rural villages. Lots off those people have never SEEN black people in person. Some have never seen black people on TV or the internet either. Also, the standards for what's rude and what isn't is very different in China. So when you bundle all that together, its easy to understand an old chinese lady coming up to a black person astounded, rubbing their arm to see if the color comes off.

Now that doesn't mean you should be expected to tolerate it or subject yourself to it. Cuz when my sister and I where there to visit my homie, he eventually get out of character with them and let them know that they were doing to much.

But it helps you understand the shit.
