Have you ever been rehired to a job before?

Duwop

Sometimes being the hero means saving the villain.
Not necessarily a poll question, just a story thread.

I'll tell mines later, but if everything goes the way I think it is from conversations yesterday, I might potentially get hired by the same company for a 3rd time by the end of this year, with the raise I requested before leaving. I'm thinking about pushing my luck and asking for more... But that'll come later if this thread gains any traction.

It's just something I've been thinking about heavy the past couple days, and because I definitely should not share any of this information on social media...I figured this place was safe enough to have a friendly discussion...

Wanted to hear some stories and opinions.

I've had people track me down from a job I walked off of, that's mostly it. Tried to get me to go back under better conditions.

I'm not really going to go back to anywhere I've left.

Told em nah

Fuck that

Yes ......I left for more money. I went back because the job I left sucked. I went back and got fired like 6mos later for sleeping on the job. I was working 2nd shift and going to school full-time. I was tired as fuck that day a nigga fell asleep in the warehouse in front of the managers desk. Woke up to.......

My current job. I was working there for about 2 years then covid happened in 2020. At which led the company to work from home. I was laid off but 2 years after, my old supervisor called me to see was I interested into coming back. Truthfully, I wasn't but he damn near begged me to come back. Now I can quarterback my own hours with my own area in the lab to work by myself with a big increase in salary. I feel like the green ranger at work. It was too good to pass up that package deal.

Rehired…. No since I never went back. I have received those phone calls down the line hey are you interested in coming back we have all this contracted work going on etc, usually followed by more money. I’m not loyal to any single company anymore but a few extra bucks won’t change my mind unless its a good amount and even then I’m more about consistency with the work year round (huge issues in my field) not just in the nicer weather months. If i left.. good chance I left for a reasons other then more money.

Yeah, so my company let me go during COVID...

Then brought me back when one of the dudes I trained wanted to be a teacher... But they screwed me on the pay..

A competitor reached out for like 30k more a year, I jumped.

Now the competitor might lose the contract to my old company, everyone says they won't stand in the way of me going back to stay with the client considering I just came on.

But I'm kinda worried my old company gonna try to jerk me on the pay again.... Even though the client thinks it won't be a problem.

I'm like, I know these niggas, you don't.

Almost did once.

Company I got fired from way back inna day wanted to hire me back a year and a half later. AVP was like "Sure, we'll put all of that behind us and start over fresh". HR broad was in agreement and they had it all set for me to come back to the company as a server tech instead of on the helpdesk. What they forgot to do was inform the new IT manager what was up (the AVP was the old IT manager that I had worked under), and the new cat posted the opening online. Got a call from the AVP talmbout "I'm sorry, but the ad that got posted generated about a thousand resumes, we have to go through them and start interviews." Mans told me they had niggas with degrees and hella certs all trying for this one ass job.

That was the turning point for us to make the move to Phoenix.

Actually, technically I have with the same company I posted ^^^ in that last reply.

I got brought on as a temp in the CSR department. Learned the biz quickly and started getting moved up quick as shit. Went from a trainee sharing a cube to getting my own, to getting moved to the window cube with more responsibilities in just 4 weeks. Came in late a few times and was brought into my manager's office with a warning that if it happened again they'd have to let me go. Two days later my fiancee had a really bad seizure and wound up hospitalized. I stayed in the hospital with her overnight. We arranged it so one of her friends would take her home when she was discharged, so I skated to the crib to shower and hightailed it to the office. I snuck in 30 minutes late. About an hour later I got the call to go see the manager and got walked up outta there.

Two years later I was looking for a new gig and had heard that the same company had switched to a different temp agency and was bringing a grip of people in. I hollered at the new temp spot and they sent me right back over there. Ran into my old manager one day and she looked at me like she knew me but couldn't figure it out and I wasn't about to remind her ass either.

Yeah, and it ended up being the same job I had the weird ass supervisor I mentioned in that On Sight List thread. Sometimes they don't value your prior experience in the company/field, but see it as a threat.
