How do they obtain power? They need votes to win. If they don't get votes, They lose, and they are back home.
Where do votes come from? "The People"
If "The People" tell you or your friend "Knight, we want 1 million dollars for our vote" and you or your friend tell the people "I can't do this" Will you or your friend have the power? or Any power? No, because you won't get the votes you need to win the election. So you go home powerless, the Reps remain in power, not you or your friend. You know this
