i think you were having a similar convo with @TheNightKing ...just cause it's illegal, doesn't mean it sets a precedent in terms of legality...or something like that

I think reparations could be on the table but they will spend a bulk of the time trying to undo the shit done by trump that there wont be any real efforts thrown at reparations.

I heard something yesterday that i think makes the most sense for reparations. At a minimum, any living great grandparents, possibly grandparents of millennials should qualify. If those people are deceased, then their payouts would go to their descendants.

It wasn’t me, but I’m with Elzo on democrats just saying fuck it and do it. The whole system has been exposed and as long as it’s exposed might as well get the hookup too.

On the other hand, on principal, I don’t think it’s right to go about it this way for Trump or for reparations. It should be done through a legal process, not bullied through. Once that precedent is set, it’s a slippery slope that will eventually lead to bad things for black people since we always seem to get the short end of the stick. It could be a net negative.

Plus $1.8B is only about $40 per black person which isn’t nearly enough. So to say this is a basis for reparations doesn’t properly correlate on magnitude.

At the end of the day, a lot of norms need to be codified to prevent shit like Trump is doing from ever happening again.

1.8B, I don't think that would be the number that would be pushed out. Many folks have said well into the trillions. Didn't Biden and his admin push out 300 million or so to the refugees when Putin was bombing them or some shit twice? I may be wrong, That's 600 million if I'm correct for some non-us citizens. Not counting the aid that Trump cut when he got into office.

So you see the difference then. $1.8B vs trillions. Based on that alone you can’t use this slush fund as a basis to argue for the level of reparations needed.

Need to be thinking how do you convince a president willing to do Trump shit to do it for trillions.
