5. Aight now my 5 through about 9 is fluid as hell on any given day. But Today. I know where I’m at…. He’s there yo. I hear all the caveats but nigga do you hear him??? Polarizing to some in The Record Store. Say it with me 3 Stacks. I get it yo, well actually I don’t. The skillset is truly some alien shit no pun intended. Creativity out of this world. “He didn’t do a solo!!!!” I don’t care. When Sixteen ain’t enough. Dre can rap whoever under the table and out flute em word. Salute me or shoot me idgaf. Andre 3000

 
4. Nas. Nobody. & I emphasize nobody can rap words together like water like Esco. The creativity in storytelling unmatched. Layered lyricism everything isn’t on the nose but he can also flip the switch and do the simple stink face shit if need be. The dexterity in rhyming is like Neo in the matrix. My favorite side of Nas is the fly Esco shit.

 
3. Pac. The Château Margaux Grand Vin of rappers. Decades later the lines are still relevant. As a youth I gravitated towards Pac for the raw aggression but as I aged the music is just as real as it gets. Nobody has made me feel the emotion of it all like Tupac. As for the people who downplay his lyricism, I get it from what folks commonly chase in lyricism. That said, the actual literary devices littered within his music is why he’s still so poignant to this day. Not every great writer as a rapper can be a great writer in other fields. That doesn’t apply to Pac. Scripts, poems, short stories. He was that gifted. He just chose rapping.

 
2. Kendrick Lamar. The craftsmanship is top level. None of the albums sound the same while having an elite discography. I think that’s some Gemini shit like word to early [redacted]. And you know the pen is sharp when because you’re not a “like” metaphor merchant or punchline cheeser they just say all your layered shit is reaches lol. The balance of skillset & creativity is what makes em special. Dot the world builder.

 
  1. Jay-Ż. The GOAT. Navigated through it all the model of consistency. All the sliders up. Used to get killed for rapper interpolations in his songs now you can’t name a popping rapper after that hasn’t returned the favor and litter their lines with Hov references. Even the singy Rod Wave niggas. Influence. There’s a bar for everything. Many came and went Jay was/still there. Dame hate on Jay, Scottie hating on Mike just regular GOAT shit you feel me. What’s done is done, the alternate realities is for What If™️ & this ain’t that. Just gotta accept it, it’s Young!
