COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

We all know how bad Trump is. He was bad when campaigned in 2024 and he still won. We gain nothing by pointing out Trump is bad. Anyone that doesn't see that now doesn't want to see it. Now, it's more important that people acknowledge the Dem mistakes so that they aren't repeated. We still got people running around saying Kamala only lost because she was black and a woman. If that's the mindset Dems go into the next election cycle rather than being more proactive about pointing out exactly where Trump is failing, and more importantly building their case for why they'll do better, they could lose again or not win as big as we want them to.

I don't know about ya'll, but by the time Trump is done, I want the government basically purged of Reps. That's not going to happen if the Dems don't do a better job of campaigning.
It’s interesting though that people say Trump won because Kamala and Dems were so bad. Basically saying it’s the Dems fault he won and ergot their fault for the bullshit happening.

But everybody acknowledges that Trump was way worse than Kamala, but he won anyway.

The logic that Trump won because Kamala was bad doesn’t track. It’s almost like there’s reasons Kamala lost other than just being bad, right?

To me there was some misogyny and racism at play, along with a lot of apathy by non-voters to the threats Trump posed.

Both siders, FBA, coons and crackers sure are pretty quiet about this.......

This was the start. It took all of one post before you came through with the misdirection.

And now here we are about to do another deep dive on why Dems lose elections instead of talking about the overt white supremacy that is on display right now and has a very real impact on people's lives.

There were a lot of people at the time that thought Trump was bad in a lot of ways but would be better for the economy, and that was a big issue at that point. Kamala's responses when asked about the economy were basically "We're doing pretty good and I'm going to do similar to what's being done now." That's just bad bro. I don't know why you can't see that. Even if a person doesn't vote Trump, Kamala didn't give them any reason to vote for her. At the end of the day, I think that's what did her in. Trump had the votes of his cult and the rest of the Republican sycophants locked up. Kamala had some Dem base support but she still needed to win others, especially those on the far left. She just didn't do enough. It's not just her fault. Biden was to blame for not getting out sooner. Kamala's team were to blame for giving her bad advice like campaigning with Liz Cheney. But ya'll can't keep acting like Kamala's missteps on topics like the genocide and economy didn't hurt her badly.

The sad thing is that Dem politicians haven't learned anything. They are still talking about playing things safe and trying to rely on how bad things are now to drive the votes their way. That might work for them in the midterms and next presidential election, but it's probably going to have us right back in this position two or three cycles from now.

This isn't the White Supremacy thread bruh. Go there if you just want to whine about racism. This is a thread about politics, and some of us are more interested in correcting the problems that led us to this point.

Dem mistakes have been acknowledged repeatedly. To the point where people damn near give disclaimers before giving them any credit for anything.

I'm not saying they weren't, but you still have people in here acting like Kamala only lost because of racism.

That's not helpful. It takes responsibility from them and doesn't give them any incentive to change their ways.

They don't really deserve credit for anything. They lost to a monster that was basically upfront about how bad he was going to be.

Yes, we should blame the racists, bigots, and cultists that would vote for that man. They got what they wanted. But we also have to blame the horrible campaigners. Some of us called out the mistakes they were making in hopes they would do better, and some of ya'll were basically accusing us of undermining Kamala instead of understanding that we were reading the tea leaves and seeing where the Dems missteps were leading.

The Dems knew this would happen, but Israel and genocide was more important to them than whatever is in that video.

All while having a moral superiority complex.
What???
smh

What a pivot!

Sexism , contrarianism, and paid controlled opposition
Oh and Elon

I wholeheartedly and unequivocally refuse to believe people genuinely felt Trump and Republicans won because they put forward better and more beneficial economic policies on job creation, public safety, living wages, healthcare, education, etc.

It wasn't a policy issue. It was a vibes problem IMO. For example, Trump blamed Biden for the economic woes at the time. Kamala said she was going to largely keep doing what Biden did. Uninformed people listened to Trump and took that to me that Kamala was going to be worse for the economy. The voters were dumb for sure, but the Kamala campaign didn't do a good job of combatting the narrative.

Yeah I forgot to mention plain old stupidity in the other reasons Trump won.

First off, she offered more than just doing similar. Y’all heard that clip on the view and never paid attention to any actual policies she put forward.

She had policies to help lower home prices (increased production), to help purchase homes (down payment assistance), to lower grocery prices (stop price gouging), etc.

Second off, doing similar looks a hell of a lot better than what’s happening now don’t it? People were mad about high egg prices, now look at where we are.

You're missing the point. We just talked about the voters not being smart and you also have to add on that the media pulls dirty tricks. She did have policies, but that's not what was pushed. It was the easy clips. I may have heard the news go into her policy proposals once or twice, I heard that "We're going to keep it mostly the same" clips tons. That's a misstep. It just is, and when you make a misstep, you have to do something to correct it. She routinely didn't do that.

Like one thing I really supported her on was her intent to stop price gouging. I think that is very important and was happy to hear her say that. The Reps made a stink about it, and instead of standing on business, she ditched it (as far as things she talked about). That made her look weak to me like she won't stand up for what she believes.

I'm done with this convo really. Trump is trash. Kamala should have won 100% of the vote, but she didn't, and there are reasons beyond racism and bigotry. If you guys can't see that boiling it down to that and acting like it's all that matters is a problem, there really ain't nothing I can say.
