Give me an example of who this could apply to?

SGA, as a matter of fact. He's the Clutch Player of the Year, but imagine if they had kept up what they were doing at the beginning of the year where the team was blowing everyone out and SGA was sitting out most of the fourth quarter. He wouldn't have even been considered for the award.
