Had Kanye not made anymore music past 2007 we would be having a whole different conversation about his legacy.

Vol 2 works far better if it was a smaller album. It has a lot of filler tracks annnnd, that sunshine track on vol 1 is worthy of being an L that can't be ignored lol so
Ye wins this particular battle. Reasonable Doubt is still the superior album to everything else to me personally. If this was just RD/Vol 1 I'd lean to Jay :mybad:
 
A lot of people are rap fans yes, but more so from the nerdy side of things, 50 Cent was an amazing rap study, cuz he came in and sort of killed what it meant to be mainstream as a gangster rapper. In comes Kanye. More transparent, willing to admit he’s self conscious and ashamed in certain aspects.

So it’s usually a battle of who you wanna present, to me? Jay makes better music and has better albums. Kanye just makes better projects. Jay would have a theme to his albums but with Ye it was more pronounced.

With College Dropout you get Cole
With 808’s and Heartbreak you get Drake

Big Sean and Wale you could see lean into Kanye heavy as well. So I think that’s why so many people resonate with him.
