You have to remember too where Atlanta was at during this time, they were still trying figure out if Trae was their franchise guy so they're trying to add the pieces around him to mitigate his weaknesses....they didnt know they were eventually getting guys like Nickeil and Dyson
These 6"7-6"9 wings are the most value players in the league so they took the guy who in theory would be an excellent fit with a Trae Young centric team.....defends, cuts, shoots, athletic not a scorer but they didnt need him to do that
Of course he's not the typical number 1 pick and will never produce like it and in hindsight they should've went for the upside in Sarr but they went with fit because they were still in win now mode
