It’s giving Lost vibes where the end will end up erasing the whole show up to that point. I liked it better when it was a grounded survival drama mystery.

They mentioned earth superheating in a couple of years and killing everything. They could have used that as the next crisis. If they wanted to keep the AI aspect it could have given instructions on how to prevent that occurrence. Then missions and drama continue based on that objective.
