Tonight, I was having a convo with my sister with a masters in Psych, soon to be a PHD, about our younger sister that now claims she has autism and ADHD thanks to her TikTok self diagnosis, similar to Amanda Seales, and like Amanda, utterly refuses to get an actual diagnosis for either (tho a doc did say ADHD is "highly probable" but didn't perform a real diag). During the conversation I half-assed jokingly made the remark that "thankfully I have none of that shit, just a high IQ as all four of us do", to which my sister said to me that not only do I have all of the characteristics of having ADD (not ADHD), but I'm also very much neurodivergent.
"I scoff in thine general direction"
One question she asked me: "If we went to your house right now, and looked at any of your computers, how many tabs would I see?"
My answer: "Dunno... between the four browsers open, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, and Edge, maybe a few hundred... But then there's the tabs open in the VM that I do my client work in and Chrome and Edge have maybe 50-60 each there... And my main laptop's Chrome, Opera, and Firefox have a grip of 'em too... And the workstation VM on the laptop has maybe a hunnid or so..."
She then asked if it all makes sense to me. I replied "yeah, 'cause I have specific browsers for specific tasks and..."
She cut me off by telling me that's, apparently, a hallmark of someone with ADD... 'Cause that's how
her shit is set up and she's been actually, factually diagnosed with it and that was one of the things she was asked. She also said that it's very consistent that someone with a genius-level IQ usually has ADD or ADHD or is otherwise neurodivergent is some manner, and all four of my mother's kids have genius-level IQ's, but mine just happens to be the highest level. The convo went on for maybe 2 hours.
I still deny it... and I told her and our other sister as much in a group text.
