Video Jay-Z Breaks His Silence—“We Played Enough Defense, 2026 is All Offense”

Lol I wouldn't say he doesn't care. I think he has the misguided view that his personal accomplishments are also wins for everyone. And thats just not reality. I had the same issue when Timbaland and Swizz was talking about selling Verzuz as some "win for the culture". Nah it's a win for their pockets but they're also older and came up in a time where the concept of "representation and a seat at the table" was seen as the ultimate accomplishment. People now see that's bullshit and it doesn't actually reflect anything tangible. So I can understand it even if I think it's a false perception.
Its not really misguided, they know wtf they're doing. That shit is manipulation. They're manipulating their followers for financial gain. The thing is they think they're way more clever than they actually are.

Easy proof Jay did it was that Nets deal. And for Verzuz it was how fast they sold it for those stock options. The way they panicked trying to keep those number up so they could potentially cash out when it went public was funny and pathetic to see. "Guys just trust us guys.....when it goes public you can own a piece of it and its a win for the culture. Plzzz just trust us and keep supporting".

This the thing i've started to notice with a lot of rich entertainers/athlete's or people that inherited a bunch of money. They start to think all the smart business moves they pay smart people to think up and implement, are their smart moves they thought of. This how we got niggas saying, "we're past kneeing" one minute when it benefits them, then a couple years later complaining niggas supporting right wing agendas. Like they wasnt doing the same shit.

Manipulation is part of capitalism. No real way to generate money without some form of manipulating the buying public because you have to be convinced to support it or a person's product with your money. You're saying the same thing i am in that 2nd paragraph which is they're trying paint their wins as wins for all and it doesn't add up. I've also said in previous threads that people need to stop confusing being rich with being smart.

But that perception of "i made it so it's a win for all" has actually been a consistent theme in Jay's music. Hell go listen to Moment of Clarity or a good portion of Watch The Throne probably the most blatant portrayal of that mentality in his music. It's definitely a reflection of how that idea of a seat at the table is a consistent theme in the shit he says. And you find that in a lot of Gen X and older millinials because it was drilled into our heads through what we were told and the things we consumed

If yall dont knock it df off. He doesnt help cuz he doesnt fucking care. He even pretty much said it in the interview. Stop trying to make it some crazy deep mysterious reason.
During the Hip Hop 50 celebration concerts,
instead of performing with his peers, Jay opened up a Jay Z museum/ shrine celebrating himself…

The only time he came outside was to perform for a bunch of white people at Tom Brady’s Hall Of Fame induction..

Didn't know the full extent of what he was doing around that time but I thought it was VERY interesting that didn't want to perform at hiphop50 Concert at Yankee stadium that had rappers perform from all over the country from diff. Regions and whatnot. Now he wants to do shows at Yankee stadium

Nas and Mass Appeal did it 1st and did it for the culture and the 50th celebration

Even Camron publicly thanked Nas for inviting him to perform at that show

My whole point is things change and it will not return to its former glory. These things happen for different reasons. Maybe dead is the wrong word. But it definitely died off a lot. It is now a niche thing. Even in china.

Sometimes foundations are changed or things are added on. Similar to moving a house to another location. Or moving in to a whole new building. Hip hop of the 60's is not the same as now. Fashion is a mew pilar in my opinion.

Break dancing pillar evolved to include all types of dances. You look at a break dance competition, you will find they include other dances mixed in their performances.

Say you had a newspaper company since the 60's. One of the foundations was the newspaper. You made great money up until 2000's. You start to see a decline. Each year gets worse. Do you keep pumping all the money into newspaper or do you shift a lot of tha money to the internet and television?
agreed. I think I mainly took issue with dude saying that shit was dead
