Would You Contribute To The Destruction Of Other Humans/Animals?

I mean, we used to put lead in EVERYTHING until we realized it was toxic.. So there are instances where things are changed for the benefit of society.

That's why gas says "unleaded" bcuz the lead emissions were fucking up the entire planet.
So they had to get it out of shit like gas, paint, and a lotta other shit.

It took a long fucking time.... But it was done.. So I guess there's some hope. But that's like 1 example

Again.

If you have cancer and a debilitating pain in your abdomen and the only medicine available that will remove your pain might grow you an extra finger...... YOU WILL NOT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE EXTRA FINGER....

And if someone is telling you they won't release it because of the extra finger. You might shoot that person.
You calling that girl selfish... When you really being selfish cuz you not thinking about the people who are suffering, you only thinking any the side effect YOU don't want to experience

No, not me growing an extra finger....

Let's say, using your example, I have to take the medicine to treat my cancer, and the chemicals that make this medicine which is made at a plant, those chemicals that are released causes you and your family and others to grow an extra finger/arm or hell cause hair loss or in this case with the documentary, decreases your chances of having kids,

Is that fair? for this company to push this medicine that will help fight cancer or would you champion this product.

I asked this out loud, I stated, if money was not an objection in this world, would plants continue or products that harm people still be a thing?

Maybe for a while because some transitions are difficult, but the if money wasn't the issue, I think we'd be more proactive about transitioning to better alternatives. Like I think our society would be in a much better position when it comes to how we produce energy if the Oil lobby hadn't paid the government to stomp out investments into renewable energy.

They talked about that in the documentary, about how lead was major, and how they decreased lead and kids went on to grow up and became intelligent humans etc etc.
That's a good example.

It's either that or die in horrible pain

I asked this follow up question, the US dollar drops as folks have been saying, would things change? Not necessary go away, but the value of a dollar is 20 cents or something...would that made production of things slow down?

It's a reason on why these products or other items that harm humans are produced and my only answer is money...

Or have the FDA folks (which is a joke) enforce these lab folks to produce a product that doesn't affect others. Create something that will attack that issue and not harm others.

What you take in Baltimore shouldn't affect my heath down here in south but it does and folks don't see how crazy that is....

A motherfucker way in Cali taking something or using something is cutting down my days on this earth...

The value of the dollar doesn't matter as much as the value of the product being produced. If product A is a top seller and then product B, which is safer and more cost efficient comes out, society would naturally shift to product B. The problem is the people making money off product A can use that money to stifle product B before it can really take off. That's what happens.

Look at the difference between the U.S. and China. We have been slow to adopt EVs and to build the infrastructure necessary for a big shift towards them. Part of that is because oil companies have fought against it. China doesn't have the same oil crooks affecting what their government does, so they've gone all-in on EVs and are poised to corner that market. It was a natural transition, especially given the global political situation. We just didn't do it because of interference.

There's a lot more at play. It's never that simple. And trying to make it simple is deliberately dismissing things that are always relevant to the conversation.

Should the world, deny a product if it affects other things?

Thread was inspired by the documentary The Plastic Theory or some shit it was called on Netfilx, good ass documentary. The chemicals in plastic affects us, to the point where it can halt couples from having kids, (I didn't know that) but watching the shit, it made me question, like why people are approving products that affects folks lives, in this case fertility for some.

If you aren't already aware, read about how and why weed is illegal. It has absolutely nothing to do with it being a dangerous, harmful drug; it's because it's cousin, hemp, kept William Randolph Hearst from pushing wood pulp-based paper. No one had an interest in wood-based paper at all because we had been using hemp-based paper for thousands of years and it's a quickly renewable crop, unlike trees. Plus there's all sorts of shit you can make from it aside from just paper, including pharmaceutical products, so there were other industries that were threatened by hemp, so they hatched a scheme to get it banned by lumping it in with weed.

Are we as a society have given up?

I asked this, because of the EV example that Monk brought up, which made me thinking about the cell-phone, we are told that this shit can cause cancer, some of us sleep with the phone next to us, keep it in our pockets etc and we know that the shit is bad, other Bluetooth devices but yet we still make purchases or get the latest and greatest, are we as a society doomed?

No one gave up, but we collectively understand accept the risks in the luxuries we consume.

There's always extremists or those in the front lines of change, and if any of those fights REALLY mean that much to you, it's not hard to find folks who have dedicated their lives to those changes. Across many causes.

But if it's just a talking point for awareness... Then it's just that.. You not gonna give a shit about any of this next week... Cuz ultimately it's just not that big of a deal to you. As it is not with most of the world.

There's plenty of things to crash out about. But nobody tryna stay angry 24/7 ... Well, some are... And again, it's the Internet. They not that hard to find

If you wanna get on the safe medical crusade.... By all means.... Go for it

Are we doomed? Yes because we choose comfort and ease over humanity and the planet daily.

It's kinda like the patriotism question.

I don't necessarily love America.... But I recognize the benefits of living here. And despite the atrocities this country has committed, I'm still not in a rush to move out.

But does that make me me a patriot who loves and supports everything about the place? No.

I just understand that while it's ugly, I can handle it.

There's a lotta sky that should and could be better with the rest the roll out medicines and other things that could benefit society, but actually cause a lot a when as well. And while I'm aware of some of them....I ain't grabbing my pitchfork and torches ready to burn the entire establishment down
. And while it absolutely may be that big of a deal to some folks. To me... It just is what it is.

If other countries are banning things that harm their citizens, what do you think or what are the benefits living here vs a country like Canada or a country in Europe that bans a lot of the things that are causing cancer?

I hear that, not just from you but with all the things that have happened in the last 10 years, do you think that some countries have caught up with the US as far as having the same benefits that you enjoy here in the US?

Things like what?

For content, you stated that you are cool with living in the states, and that you enjoy the benefits here in the states, even though the states have their problems, just like any other countries, I was asking what are the benefits that you enjoy here in the states and I added on that over the last 10 years, could one say that a few counties have the same benefits as the states here?

I added that some countries ban products that cause harm to their citizens compared to what the US has banned, just an outliner of statement I mentioned. I was asking what are the benefits and do you think that the US is the best country? Is that still a true statement in your opinion

Well, I've only lived in America. A lotta people come here for opportunities, freedom of speech, arms, religion, education, it's a plethora of reasons folks come here to America. I see no need to go to another country, so I'm sure those benefits are taken for granted if I have to list then out.... But considering how many people trying to get in and stay here... The are present.

Lemme say this knock. I don't know everything. I am aware I don't know everything. I don't pretend to know everything. So just because I can't provide a definitive detailed answer to everything, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

That's one if the issues with society, everybody tries to be an expert on everything. Or they try to get expert answers from people clearly unqualified to answer a question. There's tons of benefits to living in America, but because I'm not a studied journalist on the subject, I ain't gonna be able to break it down for you like it's a homework assignment.
