The Official Sneakerhead Thread 👟

I love the color way, but I would want to cut a few of the overlapping straps.
I thinks that's her thing because she did something similar with her Adidas and they seemed to be too much to

Yeah dude pretty much spoke facts...

Its only the few youngsters that wanna pay homage because they like 90s hip hop or have an older brother, uncle or dad that wears them that might break out a pair or retros... Thats not gonna see them flying off the racks or lining up around the block like 10 years ago though...

I think the concern is more that Nike etc will stop making retros if 'the kids' stop wearing them...
Everybody can't go though

Nostalgia is the gift and the curse

Materials are higher than they were when the shoes originally released and if they don't recoup that money back, then... You know

I think it's ok to let these kids have what interests them. Like I can't stand to look at the panda dunks but that's their thing. I don't have to buy it so I didn't.

My style at my age also has influenced my sneakers so for me, some retros are just gonna stay in the past.

I found some air max TL 2.5s on a flash sale, put them in my cart and forgot about em

Refreshed a couple days later and was told it was sold out. I tried to get the 13 as I need that extra toe room at my age

Something told me to check again this morning and they were there still at 40% off

I immediately copped them

I would say materials and production is alot cheaper than it used to be... For example they used to use real leather, no its mostly faux, machines have made production cheaper and quicker, shipping to the both the factory and to consumer is easier than ever too...

Im just playing devils advocate though, as Im glad kids arnt buying retros as its easier for us to cop but if sales continue to decline than it wont be long until Nike stop making them or massively cut production...

I feel you but question for you and if this isn't where you were going then my apologies

But how many times do you want to buy the same shoe over and over?

I think your larger position is you want to see some of the lesser celebrated silhouettes get retroed and I'm not mad at that at all

Bit of both really... Yeah I would like to see more lesser celebrated releases too and truth be told I dont buy as many sneakers as I used too...

If a new OG Jordan 3 or random retro dropped and was really well executed then I would cop a pair but if the QC was poor then I wouldnt, as Im alot more selective and cool with missing out on drops... Im still kicking myself for not getting the Fire Reds couple years back though as they were great...

A while ago I become strictly OGs colouways only too, now Im back to loving some of Jordan 3 collabs and earthtone/nubuck releases when they hit the sales...

They're sold out everywhere online.

Its just funny seeing which Jay's these kids decide to hype. The infrared 6s are still on the shelves.

meanwhile the black/blue 14s sold out everywhere i've seen online smh

i'm debating on those 6s now or try to wait until they go on sale

Retros became so popular because people who were teens when they dropped grew up and could buy them. Especially those that couldn’t afford them as kids.

That appetite has been fed now so the demand is slowing.

That and also still revering the athletes and artists who were them...

Saying that, retro gear is still fashionable amongst youngsters... though over here it seems they are rocking retro Air Max, Nike runners and Adidas rather than Jordans...
