In his first term, he torpedoed a peace agreement with them that was, by all accounts working, and he murdered a respected Iranian general. When he got shot at, he blamed Iran and has made comments about them being a problem that needed to be fixed for years now. So, yeah, they voted for this. If they want to put their head and in the sand and pretend like this was some unforeseeable circumstance, that's fine, but it wasn't.
