2026: Back to the randomness

It's funny because our pastor just gave a sermon on giving and made a point of saying "If you don't have it, don't give it. Pray to God for him to give it to you, and then give it when you've got it."
Why doesn't the pastor just bypass the congregation and ask God himself?

These niggas really need to be removed from the census for scamming folks out of their hard earned money.
My mom wanted to be a nun when she came to Canada. She actually came to the country under some kind of program they had for that where she got a work permit through a church. She did that for a few years, saw all the greed and fuckery and once she became a permanent resident she got tf out of the church game lol. She was done with the churches here but still sent me with my neighbor every Sunday for years. That lady was batshit catching the holy ghost speaking in tongues and stuff lol. I came to the same conclusion she did in my early teens and stopped going but I think I got some good value out of it.

They do it because believers are supposed to give.
Why does it have to be money tho?
You can "give" by-

volunteering
Mentoring
Tutoring
Babysitting
Cooking
Maintenance
Etc.

I'll give you a perfect example why I don't fuck with the churches.

My moms old church wanted donations all the time for lawn care services. Well it happens that I own a lawn care service and offered it for free. The church turned it down bcuz they claimed they had a contract with another company. Turns out the other company was the pastor's crackhead brother and he was doing all the lawn care for free.

Those fuckers just want cash and available women, and if you just happen to catch a spiritual uplifting while they are doing their performative art, then god bless ya.

I'm currently having a cold war with the pastor and his wife at my church. We might go this weekend. Haven't been for a while due to wrestling season, but we still go to the events n gatherings outside of service.

Because the interpretation of what the Bible says is income. I've heard of others interpreting it as something other money too. Realistically, a church is like any other club. It has expenses that have to be paid, and those expenses are paid by the "dues" of the club members. It's not a scam for a club/organization to expect members to pay their dues. That said, there are churches that absolutely are scams. It's a tricky thing, Not every church is about fleecing its members for money, but a lot of churches are about that.

Deuteronomy 14:22-26

22 Make an offering of ten percent, a tithe, of all the produce which grows in your fields year after year.
23 Bring this into the Presence of God, your God, at the place he designates for worship and there eat the tithe from your grain, wine, and oil and the firstborn from your herds and flocks. In this way you will learn to live in deep reverence before God, your God, as long as you live.
24 But if the place God, your God, designates for worship is too far away and you can't carry your tithe that far, God, your God, will still bless you:
25 exchange your tithe for money and take the money to the place God, your God, has chosen to be worshiped.
26 Use the money to buy anything you want: cattle, sheep, wine, or beer - anything that looks good to you. You and your family can then feast in the Presence of God, your God, and have a good time.

It never says give the church 10% of your income so the pastor can buy new gators and a mink for his wife.

well the vast majority of people arent farming veggies or animals so that's off the table.

To monk's point, salvation is free but ministry costs. It would be nice if God just powered everything but that's not the reality we live in. Tithing is more about the believe or practice of sowing and reaping and less about trying to fleece people out of their money.

and there are people who offer all the things O.G. mentioned in addition to a financial offering and there are a lot that don't do a single thing to contribute to the advancement of the kingdom. They don't give anything whether it's a dollar, time or talent.

This.

I make no excuse for corruption and scamming in Christianity. It happens.

But like anything else, people have to learn how to separate a practice from the way corrupt people abuse practices. Offerings in church are meant to keep the church and ministry going not to enrich pastors. Some pastors manipulate their congregation to enrich themselves. The problem is with them not the concept of giving to a church.

Like @AP4.0 said, giving is an act of faith. If you actually believe in God, you should be willing to contribute to His work. You just have to be smart about who you follow.

I think people forget the bold with a Church. Even with it being a place of worship, it still has bills to pay and the congregation contributing to that isn't the worst thing.
