Atlanta Hawks Magic City Night… Is Canceled 😒

My thoughts on it from an interaction I had in another thread...

He's actually not on the Hawks. He's on the spurs and not even playing against the Hawks on the night of.

I don't see the problem with it. It's not like they're going to have strippers pole dancing at the game. They're going to serve chicken wings and put the clubs name up on the jumbotron.

It's not that serious. It's respectability politics. Bet he hasn't spoke on the Memphis Grizzlies owner company providing equipment to Russia in its war against Ukraine.

Yeah just took the time to scan over read buddies blog entries. Doesn't talk about any current societal issues but this is the issue that crosses the line and he had to speak on. Atlanta celebrating a long standing black business in the city. They're not celebrating strippers or pushing sex on families they're celebrating a long standing perfectly legal black business that is part of the cities fabric... with chicken wings. Just comes off racist as I initially thought when I first heard about it but didn't want to put on him. You'd think he'd bring up the catholic churches issues since he's all about that in his posts. Bet he won't.

Whatever man keep eating that bullshit up. Let's see if he talks about the innocent people being rounded up by ice or the US/Israel waging war on Iran in his next entry.

Magic city and strip clubs aren't plaguing the black community or any community for that matter. Stripclubs been around for a hundred years. You're talking like it's a new or taboo thing. It just isn't that deep as far as the club and the Hawks are regarded. They're just celebrating a successful black business in the community. Seeing it as anything more than that is just personal bias in his case probably racial and sexist as he most likely has never been or knows the relationship the companies have built.

So it shouldn’t matter because of the other thing he didn’t speak of?
What I’m saying is there are more important issues for him to speak on than this, including issues going on the league he plays for. @Freeman alluded to it but I feel like buddy doing it for show.

Fuck Luke Kornet

It's all sorts of more pertinent important social issues he could talk about. To me it looks funny in the light. He speaks a lot about his catholic faith in his blog. Bet he won't bring this up...

An NBA team that should be a family environment shouldn’t be having a partnership with a stripclub

It’s tacky and doesn’t send a good message in a sport where kids are so prominent

Don't really know why this is so hard to comprehend

"Honey I got us and the kids tickets to Magic City Night at the Hakws game and I got is all matching Magic City hoodies!"

A strip club being considered a "Cultural Institution" should be embarrassing

I understand it from an Atlanta perspective and how it makes sense technically but it’s just not a good look outside of the organization

Shouldn’t be allowed imo as it’s not in the best interest of the league and its optics

They're having wings and hoodies. Meanwhile the same people upset about this over decency will see the team dancers in skin tight clothes every timeout and commercial break without blinking an eye. The NBA promoting gambling that has players and their families receiving death threats is far more concerning than a Magic City wings night

Telling women what is and isn't valuing them is wild.

Talking about let's value women but then tell them how they get valued is super duper man shit.

Women allowed to be mothers and sisters and also allowed to be strippers. One doesn't get more value than the other.

If a mfer really cares about valuing women, he should look internally and figure out why he thinks only women who look and act a certain way is valuing them.
