A bone is just a bone until 2 dogs decide they want that bone

Ur boy needs to redeem himself

Battles are apart of the culture and one can say the most important part
No he dont

You were the #1 nigga keeping the Kendrick vs Drake thread going days, weeks and months on end so we know why YOU wanna see shit. I rather see Cole go at Gibbs if that’s the case.

Ain’t nobody wanna see Cyhi vs anyone bruh Pass on that

U niggas love the shit as much as I do lol

Why would Cole go at Gibbs ?

Plus imo Cyhi>>>> Gibbs

He could've just @'d Cole

Right. I do agree with him to a good extent. It's not just Cole. Majority of his contemporaries have a similar issue. I won't say they don't have experience but you can tell that either it's the lack of grow, versatility, creativity, etc these guys come up short in this area. You don't have to be street obviously but streets kinda have to feel it. Funny that Cole is the one the streets have been feeling the most out of all the "Big 3" from convos I always have with niggas even older than me.

I just want some consistency and some good music😅

After sitting with this for almost a week I’m gonna admit it, I put off listening to this album in full for a while. A lot of different factors have gone into it. Mainly the fact that I’m just not as hype for this album as I probably would have been say, two years ago. Hip hop in general hasn’t had me really wanna pay attention to it in full since probably the tail end of the Drake/Kendrick debacle after the Super Bowl halftime show. Nowadays it’s so much about what rappers doing off wax and on social media that I’ve found myself tuning out niggas. Maybe I’m just jaded. Maybe it’s cuz I’m getting older.

With all that said, this is a good album. Some gems here and there but it falls into the same traps almost all rap double albums fall into. “Cut these handful of tracks and you got a great album rather than a good one” traps. I got a feeling J Cole knew this going in but he couldn’t resist following all the other great MCs that tried their hand in the double album… and that’s ok. I don’t expect this to be his final album but I actually hope it is. Cole is one of the very last in a line of descendants of MCs from the golden age that are still relevant. Love or hate J Cole most people know who he is. If he rides off to the sunset it’s another lifeline to the past gone, and maybe someone else will step up… or maybe rap will just continue to spin off into the next phase in the parody of itself. I dunno, I wrote way more than I thought I would for a J. Cole album review. It’s 4 mics. Yes I’m being generous.

That Symba song is dope. I thought it was going to be some lame diss but honestly a creative response to what Cole said and not really a diss at all.

He basically made his own cover of Common - I used to love her

Album gets better to me the more I listen to it. I was kinda underwhelmed with Disc 29 at first but now that I’ve sat with this it’s definitely the better of the 2 sides. I seen someone breakdown the album and made the claim Disc 29 is basically FHD part 2 & now a lot of these joints make much more sense thematically. Disc 39 initially I thought was better but it has more of the joints I woulda left off ( Life Sentence, Only You, What If, whole world is the ville) not that they are bad songs but they’re repetitive

Double discs are very hard to do and like @grYmes said he probably couldn’t resist saying he did a double disc, all the hip-hop titans have done one. Its still way too long but if you knocked off those songs I mentioned along with maybe The Let Out ( I understand why its on the album I just still cant get jiggy with it) you probably are looking a better received album all-around. I still have it #4 in his album catalogue (1. Born Sinner 2. FHD 3. The Off-Season) but it could crack top #3 for me.
