US attempt to acquire Greenland

You're still avoiding the other examples. Polk was a long time ago, the 50s and 60s weren't. You're conveniently closing the window to avoid talking about it.

And yes there are examples under Dem presidents who acted unilaterally without congress approval.

This is a disingenuous conversation.
I'ma be honest

Because each party is a long way from it's roots and origins, this is a pointless conversation cause it won't be apples to apples

I kinda see why Omar specified that period as his starting point but the biggest problem is that this current iteration of the Republican party is pretty shitty

Ok fine, Republicans are regressing to boots on the ground invasions while Dems have modernized themselves with illegal drone strikes

I’ll fix it for you.

Republicans regressed to boots on a ground against a NATO ally’s territory-Greenland-. While the USA has a treaty to have bases all over the territory.

Do you think Biden, Kamala, Obama or Bush would have the same plans?

Like if trump were actually invade? Probably not. But America in general does have military occupation in some countries/territories who's locals or even some of their government wants them out yet we persist due to "national security interest"

So u draw the line at "allies" then? This is the goal post move?

Lol

Yes we draw the line at allies like most countries do? We didn’t permanently take Iraq or Afghanistan. We didn’t invade Mexico or anything. So we supposed to view Greenland as a usual target? We supposed to think Kamala would do this? If you can give me a president in our lifetime that has attacked an ally you would have a point?

No 20 years isn't permanent but it's 20 years lol. Could've easily been longer if public blowback wasn't getting worse.

Sure Trump "invading" an ally would be unprecedented even tho we already have military bases there but not categorically different from the multiple times the US has threatened allies implicitly thru coercion over what they consider national or strategic interest. Historically America has let it's allies know if push comes to shove they'll do whatever they have to in order to retain their influence. This is what imperialist countries do.

And stop the "in this lifetime" "since the 80s" shit

The world wars weren't in this life time but we are still actively dealing with the geopolitics from those days

And world war 2 was to stop a genocide and fascism though. Yes Vietnam was a fuck up and Afghanistan. And having military bases in Europe is common. Invading Denmark is not common. Why would we need to take the territory if we can just build more bases.

You’re over simplifying on purpose.

They are an ally and we signed a treaty with them to build the bases and troops being there.

Greenland and Denmark said yesterday they didn’t mind the American bases and troops being there under the longstanding treaty that’s been in place. So it’s not about locals or government not wanting them there.

You still didn’t answer my question weirdly enough.

We have military bases in a lot of areas around the world. That doesn't mean we're taking over the country. What trump wants to do would end NATO and isolate the US because we'd be attacking an ally

lmao....13? Did they draw straws..........play eenie meenie mino mo to see who gets that shit assignment....tf?
