Why do people keep saying you need to watch Shawshank in this timeline?

I know it's a King project but outside of the name of the prison that's mentioned in the show, I don't see a need to see this as part of the continuity

It's not needed but to have a full scope of King Universe I assume they're saying watch it because the prison is named.

Like for instance Stand By Me isn't needed to watch Castle Rock even though SBM takes place in Castle Rock. Speaking of Castle Rock that entire series needs a reboot with a big production company behind it so it can really be done right. Not saying the original series is bad BUT it could be wayyyyy better
