What was the reason for MAX Being locked up at first place? Alot of his family and friends said he was innocent

They said he coordinated a robbery. Sent his girl and step-brother to rob some scammer in a hotel. Robbery went bad and scammer ended up getting shot in the face. His girl told on Max and said he set it up even though she was the one who told her about the scammer in the first place. Allegedly
