  • Thursday, the U.S. Department of Labor reported first-time filings fell to 218,000 for the week ending Sept. 20, down 14,000 to their lowest level in two months.
  • Earlier this month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics issued a large revision showing U.S. employers added 911,000 fewer jobs in the 12 months ending in March 2025 and reported just 250,000 jobs in August.
  • The four-week average of claims fell 2,750 to 237,500 while continuing claims edged down 2,000 to 1.926 million, keeping weekly applications within a historically low 200,000–250,000 range.
  • The Federal Reserve lowered its benchmark rate last week by a quarter percentage point to a range of 4%-4.25%, citing rising downside risks to employment in recent months.
  • Initial claims helped to calm some market fears as initial jobless claims below expectations eased caution at the Fed, but the July employment report’s weak gains and President Trump firing the head of the BLS stoked concerns

  • The US economy grew at an annualized rate of 3.8% in the second quarter, the Commerce Department's third and final estimate released Thursday showed.
  • This growth followed a contraction at the beginning of the year and revisions that raised previous GDP estimates from 3.0% and 3.3% to 3.8%.
  • The second-quarter recovery was supported by consumer spending and falling imports, while inventory building subtracted from the GDP growth.
  • Economists note the 3.8% rate significantly exceeds prior reports and highlights the resilience of the world's largest economy.
  • Economists estimate momentum continued into the third quarter, with the government's first estimate scheduled for release next month

  • Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the 'first phase' of a peace plan, which includes releasing hostages and an Israeli troop withdrawal.
  • The Qatari Foreign Minister said the deal would 'lead to ending the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the entry of aid.'
  • Hamas confirmed the agreement entails an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a hostage-prisoner exchange

  • This past week, The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found most Americans view the shutdown as a major problem, with roughly 6 in 10 blaming President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress and 54% blaming Democrats in Congress.
  • At the center of the shutdown is Democrats in Congress demanding extensions of federal tax credits for Affordable Care Act marketplace enrollees, while Republicans in Congress refuse to negotiate until government funding passes.
  • Poll results show Democrats are most likely, at 69%, to see the shutdown as a major problem, independents 59% and Republicans 37%, while 42% of Americans have no opinion.
  • Flights have been delayed and hundreds of thousands of federal employees are furloughed or working without pay, starting to miss paychecks, while a federal judge in California blocked firings on Wednesday.
  • At least three-quarters of Americans say each side deserves moderate blame, Democrats face high stakes for the 2026 midterm elections, and leaders warn the third week of the shutdown could be longest.

  • On Thursday, the U.S. Treasury Department announced the 2025 budget deficit edged lower to a $1.78 trillion shortfall, 2.2% less than fiscal 2024, as the fiscal year ended in September.
  • Tariff collections this year reached $202 billion, a 142% surge from 2024, while September customs duties and $198 billion monthly surplus helped reduce the deficit.
  • Record debt servicing costs included interest on the national debt totaling more than $1.2 trillion and net interest payments of $970 billion against a $38 trillion national debt.
  • Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said `'we're on our way'` last week as CBO estimates the deficit-to-GDP would be below 6%, and the fiscal year ended in September with $5.2 trillion in revenue.
  • In a year marked by a bruising trade war, record tariff receipts offset unprecedented interest outlays, leaving persistent fiscal pressure policymakers must manage.

First off, dude is obviously biased to Trump, highlighting positives and never the negatives.

That said, I’m not going to be mad at HBCU’s getting more funding, but they just shifted the money from minority serving institutions, some of which are Predominantly Black Institutions.

So this is really just shifting some funds from one black school another black school, and the balance is taking money away from other minorities.

Net and net a positive for black students, but not the grand gesture dude makes it out to be. Plus it’s a one-time funding, so he’s probably doing it to garner black support for the mid-terms. Who knows if he will extend the funding or make it permanent.

  • The Bureau of Labor Statistics released the CPI on Friday, reporting year-over-year inflation rose to 3.0% in September, slightly below economists' 3.1% forecast.
  • The BLS had intended to publish on October 15 but the U.S. government shutdown beginning October 1 delayed the release, affecting many federal workers and agency operations.
  • The Federal Reserve meets on October 28 and October 29 to consider rates, and with other official data missing, today's CPI gives Fed members some insight despite murky job-market details.
  • The Social Security Administration will use the fresh inflation figures to calculate the annual cost-of-living adjustment, while large companies and small businesses weigh price and staffing decisions.
  • September's reading also puts inflation back at January's level as median one-year inflation expectations rose from 3.2% to 3.4%, following the Federal Reserve rate policy cut this year

Bruh are you being serious with this video? It's a video of some dude reacting to vids from random people and clips of segments from news channels that are known to be less than accurate with their reporting.

For example, there is a Newsmax clip on there saying that 50% of the SNAP benefits go to illegal aliens. That's just a lie.

While some of the SNAP benefits do go to non-citizens, they aren't illegal aliens, they are people who have been granted legal status to be here for various reasons (e.g., work visas, asylum, etc...). It's also just a flat out lie that they are taking 50% of the benefits. The numbers show that the majority of the benefits are going to citizens. Even if that 50% number was true, it's not like the Trump administration is just refusing to pay out the benefits to the noncitizens. They are not paying anyone, so their actions are still hurting American citizens.

Bruh, I've seen your posts dealing with genetics and archaeology. You understand what a reputable source is, so I know you can do better than this.

You don't know shit about Malcom and what he stood for , if you truly believe he would even piss on a devil like Trump, if he were on fire, let alone support & vote for him.

You see....Unlike you black MAGA rat coons, Malcom had emotional intelligence & integrity.
These characteristics allowed him to change his opinion as new information was presented to him. Malcom wasn't stuck in ideology purgatory because of fear, pride, ego and convenience like you all.

So, no, I'm certain he'll look at his speech from 60 years ago and compare it to the modern day political climate of today and see a CLEAR difference as to which political party TODAY.... in 2025 has shown itself to intentional and willful infliction of pain, suffering, or distress

The fact that some of you can't see it, is a failure on whoever raised you

"Any time you throw your weight behind a political party that controls 2/3 of the government and that party can't keep the promise it has made to you during election time and you're dumb enough to walk around continuing to identify yourself with that party not only are you a chump but a traitor to your race.

"It was the black man's vote that put the present administration in Washington, D.C. Your vote, your dumb vote, your ignorant vote, your wasted vote put in an administration in Washington, D.C., that has seen fit to pass every kind of legislation imaginable, saving you until last, then filibustering on top of that. And your and my leaders have the audacity to run around clapping their hands and talk about how much progress we're making."
