Official Wrestling News Thread

lol that’s the problem. the event wasn’t anything special. everyone not in the wwe bubble can see that

i hope espn continues calling wwe out for putting on mid shows

Exactly what I was thinking when I read that tweet. The folks behind the scenes at WWE are so clueless it's ridiculous.

These muthafuccas at WWE thought they put on a WM type of event huh? Lol

Exactly. Then I was watching a video a few days ago about the og plans for Wrestlepalooza where:

Cena beats Lesnar
McIntyre beats Cody (Orton gets involved turns heel)

That ^^ might have made the PPV a little more tolerable. Instead Wrestlepalooza turned out to be the WOAT PPV of the year. I hope ESPN stays on WWE about their PPVs b/c to ask ppl for $30 for that garbage (and going forward is jokes).

Jazmyn Nyx just posted on IG why she quit WWE.

Ole girl pretty much said the money they offered wasn't right, and all three injuries she's sustained. So she left.

Maybe that's right they wrote her off the way they did, and Kacy making that statement about how she couldn't cut it.

Jazmyn Nyx is finishing up with NXT after a contract dispute that has her willing to walk away from NXT.

Fightful Select spoke with a number of sources familiar with the situation, including agents, NXT staff, talent and more about the figures going around and what happened in relation to Nyx's deal.

WWE sources did confirm to Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp that they wanted to retain her, but were unwilling to budge from their offer. The claims from inside NXT was that Nyx was at about $75,000 on her deal, which is the same amount that was offered for a new multi-year deal. We aren't told if that would have escalated over time. NXT talent can make significantly less than that when they're recruited or first brought in. However, there are some on the NXT roster that are making six figures, and even above main roster minimums. The main roster base pay starts at $350,000 according to those we spoke with.

When one person on Instagram commented that NXT wrestlers make 80-150k, Jazmyn noted that it wouldn't have been an issue if that were the case. One NXT talent said that Nyx likely ended up with less than 60k after taxes, and still incurs the cost of gear and the like.

AJ Styles stated he will retire next year while promoting next month WWE's tour of Japan, noting to Tokyo Sports that the October dates may be the final times he gets to perform in Japan.

Styles commented, "I will probably appear at WrestleMania (April next year in Las Vegas, USA), but it's not confirmed yet. The details are still undecided, but I will definitely retire within the next year," he explained, before revealing his true feelings, "I don't want to show my fans a side of me that isn't AJ Styles. That's the main reason. I've decided to retire before my body can no longer move." Regarding his plans after retirement, he said, "I haven't decided yet, but I think I'll probably work for WWE. It might be good to train young wrestlers to be worthy of being on the main roster, but I don't know yet." [Note: Google translation of comments from Japanese.]

Styles debuted in 1999 and over the course of his career, was a major force in TNA, a big part of the early era of Ring of Honor and had a tremendous run in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He made his WWE debut in January 2016. He has held the WWE, TNA, IWGP, TNA X-Division, ROH Pure and NWA Championships, among others, over the course of his career.

We've been asked quite a bit about the future of Piper Niven. PWInsiderElite.com can confirm that she suffered a neck injury, which is why she is out of action. We are told Fightful had reported that this week and we can independently confirm we have heard the same.

There have been rumors making the rounds that it's a potentially career ending issue, but based on WWE sources we've spoken with, that's not entirely accurate. While there is always concern when there is a neck issue, we are told that internally, that is not how it's being seen. We are told that Niven and the company are currently determining the best cause of action going forward - whether that means physical therapy, a surgery, etc. and that until those decisions are made, there's no real update on how long she is expected to be out of action.

Chelsea Green has been teasing a new member of The Secret Hervice online, so we'll see what direction that takes. One WWE source joked the best candidate would actually be Matt Cardona.
