COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

Tell me, was this before or after u elaborated what your actual point was? U went back to 490 so u should know
I went back 489 and 490. You jumped in out of nowhere talking about about negating Biden’s age.

When negating Biden’s age wasn’t even said or insinuated in those pages.

Before...and you seemed to be the only one who didn't get the point. So yeah you jumped out and found an issue where there wasn't one
"Seem" is an assumption, let's avoid that.

I wanna know why u used a post I made before u elaborated your point as an example of me arguing against something I agreed with before I completely understood what I could or couldn't agree with.

Huh? My first response was to BR literally him bringing up Biden regarding the mental shit

U know what, I know what this looks like when I'm not participating in it. I respectfully bow out.

Lying is lying no matter who is doing it.

Dems defend Dems
Gop defends gop

Mass mainstream media collectively uniting to pick a side, worse
Fox News is mass mainstream media too. And talk radio is mainly right wing. So the balance hasn’t changed.

Right wing outlets are worse because their politicians can literally do no wrong.

Imagine a Fox News host doing a whole book on Trump’s cognitive decline, lol. Or bashing Trump immediately after a terrible debate performance.

Fox news is mass media, but it's only one network, and everyone knows it's heavily biased.

As far as downplaying Biden's cognitive decline, there were multiple mainstream networks, and some of them are considered less biased, more balanced...

Defending Biden’s Cognitive AbilitiesSeveral mainstream outlets and media figures actively downplayed or defended Biden against claims of cognitive decline, especially before the June 2024 debate. These defenses often framed concerns as ageism, partisan attacks, or exaggerations, sometimes attributing Biden’s gaffes to his lifelong stutter.

MSNBC personalities like Joe Scarborough strongly defended Biden, with Scarborough claiming in early 2024 that Biden was “far beyond cogent” and “better than he has ever been.” The network dismissed cognitive concerns as “hysteria” and labeled videos of Biden’s gaffes as “cheap fakes.”

CNN: Before the debate, CNN figures like David Chalian and Wolf Blitzer praised Biden’s leadership, with Chalian likening Biden’s inauguration to “arms embracing America” and Blitzer saying Biden “put his soul” into speeches. CNN’s coverage often avoided delving into cognitive concerns until post-debate.

NBC News: NBC’s Chuck Todd called Biden “the Better Angels president” and downplayed concerns about his mental acuity, though the network later reported on specific incidents, like Biden not recognizing George Clooney at a fundraiser.

The Washington Post: While The Washington Post later reported critically, it initially ran defenses of Biden, with some stories post-Hur report concluding that Biden was not as impaired as described.

The New York Times: Similarly, while The New York Times ran numerous stories post-Hur report, some concluded that Biden’s mental state was not as severe as critics claimed, effectively defending him against the most extreme allegations.

The View (ABC): Whoopi Goldberg dismissed concerns about Biden’s cognitive abilities, famously stating she didn’t care “if he’s pooped his pants” and would still vote for him.

NPR: NPR was criticized for not covering cognitive concerns adequately, with its CEO later admitting to mistakes in other coverage areas (e.g., Hunter Biden laptop story), suggesting a broader pattern of selective reporting.

Black Rain statement in no way was hand waving Biden’s health.

It’s a fact that questions of his health was talked about left and right, but we aren’t seeing it currently talked about at all.

Trump says wild shit and behaves just as geriatric and it’s crickets from media, you and talking heads.

No I agree. Every time they said he’s sharp and in private is the smartest in the room etc. I knew it was bullshit.

Just saying, on the other side, you have damn near cult devotion to a person and party by the network and its viewers.

Both terrible, one more so than the other.

1) People were saying Trump was too old during the campaign as well

2) It is being talked about currently so that's completely false

Both terrible but in diff ways

The maga worship of trump is bad, and no type of media coverage can change that

But seeing as how, for example, MSNBC was pushing that "sharp as a tack" "Ben hur report is a trump hit piece" to defend Biden....while covering Trump as the only one in mental decline.....only to "express shock" about Biden post debate, is its own kinda abhorrence
